Drive in the Rain without Their Headlights On? In my state it's against the law to drive in the rain or fog without headlights. But I see Staties and local cops drive without them all the time. Why don't they uphold the law they ticket us for violating?

I Do Not Believe That There Are Laws on the Books That Allow Cops TO Break THE LAW. I know Cops who snort cocaine and smoke pot too---is this legal too--also cops who go to bars and then drive home after work? IS that legal? No one of you cops answered the question. And I care what You do--because you're hypocrites if you break the laws you are hired to uphold--what a bunch of minions you are! Self righteous butterheads.

Because apparently they think they are above the law and can do anything they want.
I guess they are "special" and the rest of us are slugs.

Look at the cops on here telling you to shut up and do what they say.

Because police don't respect the laws anymore like they did when I was growing up. Now they determine the quality of your life rather than protecting your quality of life.
Why do you think none of these cops on here acknowledged your question---it's why they're all fat out out of shape now, and have to shoot you cause they can't run after you. They entrap you by sitting at the bottom of hills for speeders. But they can't catch real criminals!
Murderers, rapists, pedophiles...are running loose. They look for the easy big fish....why else would they disregard the laws to arrest people.
All the cops on here just order you around--pf--uck off--pigs!

Police vehicles are exempt from most traffic laws. This is neccessary for them to effectively do their job. When a cop is speeding or driving without his headlights on in the rain, he is not breaking the law.

i would be unable to furnish help to with Maryland, yet right here in California, the line Patrol is the final knowledgeable police tension i've got ever seen, and that i've got wide-spread many. i assume the question is, do you prefer to finally check out crime, or save the highways risk-free? the two are surprising possibilities. by using a hiring freeze, I ignored the CHP Academy by utilising 3 weeks, and it quite stricken me. by utilising the time they have been hiring returned, i became into too previous. yet to be truthful, the seen scraping youngster's bodies off the expressway did not charm to me. If I had it to do over, i could have long previous into community regulation enforcement. despite you settle on, stable success.

Every state has laws on the books that exempt on duty police officers from any and all traffic laws in the state while in the performance of their duties.

But, those same statutes also say that if the officers action is considered reckless and causes any property damage, injury or death... they then can be held responsible and held civilly and criminally liable.

I don't know why they would be driving around in the rain with their head lights off.... But, I do know that when I was working in the inner city on night shift, I drove around a lot with no lights on and the windows down and the AC off. You catch a lot of criminals that way.

Why are you so worried about what we do. Focus your attention on your own driving. If you would like to know the answer, I suggest you put in your application for the police academy and go through the process. Then you will understand.

Well I know most cops don't turn on headlights to snag speeders, regardless of day or time, sun or rain. Many of the cops patrol at night with the headlights off, either parked off at the side of the road or in some kind of hidden area just waiting for someone to speed right past them.

Headlights draw attention and if cops have their headlights on, more people will take notice and cops will get less tickets. Keep in mind that officers have to reach a monthly quota in order to report back to headquarters. While I think it's rather sneaky and unfair, just follow the speed limit no matter where you are and things will be fine.

They think their above the law.I agree they should get tickets. But who will issue them? And to other persons answer, they need head lights to be parked on side of road by law, cause people dont see them and run into parked patrol car and some cops have died from that.

Police Officers are allowed to use their discretion when issuing citations, so we give each other verbal warnings.
