If you want to read about murder, rape, betrayal, torture, bestiality, incest, fratricide, famine, pestilence...

Yes, it is good bedtime light reading.

Aleister Crowley is probably more suitable.

Some of it, who begat who, and the endless lists, and repetitious descriptions of how to build the temple will certainly put you to sleep, not sure about sweet dreams.
But seriously try John for a happy outlook.
The psalms can be uplifting (although the psalms also include some pretty harsh verses)
Why don't you re-phrase some traditional prayers (Our Father) into you own words? Uses your creativity and will bring the ideas and praising and thanking God into your heart. That helps me sleep tight.
Others ideas; read a book I think called "the practice of the presence of God"
In religious reading also, read some and reflect, don't just try to power through.

Depends on what you consider "sweet dreams"! If you like reading about an omnipotent creator who punishes and kills his creations for being what he created, then sure.

Yes, it is full of sex, magic, super heroes and a villain so weak who did not even murder a single person (compared to its great hero that massacred even innocent children).
