Did you contact the police department and file a theft report?

If the police took at theft report -you should not be held responsible for the damage the thief does.

No theft report - you have a problem.

More than likely you will be. If not you than the thief. Where was this car stolen from? Your yard? Or have you been driving around without any insurance? That might make a difference in who is responsible. If it was just a spare car you never used, so you dropped the insurance on it, then you might get by, but if you were driving around without insurance anyway I am sure you will be responisble. Have you notified the police yet? Ask them, they can give you a much better idea than we can. Good Luck and I hope you get your car back soon and unharmed!

You most likely will be held accountable for the damage. Once you get a police report saying that the car was stolen, then that might have some bearing on your responsibility for damages.

As long as you filed a police report, and press charges if they catch the thief, no.
