Amen Sister
Why Jesus died For Us
He is our sacrificial lamb who shed his blood to cover your sins: past, present and future. If not he died at the cross in vain. He full filled (Luke 24: 44) and nailed the 10 commandments to the cross (Colossi ans 2:14). Christ did not die in vain (Galatians 2: 21). Spirit is of faith and not of the works of the law (Galatians 3: 2). Christ is the end of the law (Romans 10: 4). The law was our tutor but no more (Galatians 3: 24 – 25). God will remember your sins no more (Hebrews 10:17). You are a sinner for life, there is nothing that you can do, not to sin (1 john 1: 7 - 10). You can not go out into the world and do what ever you wish, just because Jesus covered your sins (Romans 6: 1 - 3). Hebrews 8: 7 – 13 (he wrote the laws into their hearts, so that you would know right from wrong.
If you have faith in Jesus and are obedient to God, then you are not under the 10 commandments.
If you do not believe in Jesus, then you are under the 10 commandments, now you need to bring your unblemished goat to the alter every year and sacrifice it to cover your sins but with Jesus, he is our new covenant.
You are justified by faith and not of your works
Get ready People, Jesus is coming

Jesus died to set free those who put their trust (faith) in his accomplishments and not their own. Set free from what? From sin and its consequence, death, and its alienation from our holy God. Those who think they can please God by law-keeping are in bondage (slavery) to law. Those who think they can please God by abandoning law are in bondage to lawlessness. Jesus did not come to destroy the (Mosaic) Law but to fulfill it by keeping it perfectly - the only man who has done so. The 2 laws of love he gave enshrine all the principles of the Ten Commandments, as does the Sermon on the Mount.
So Christians are set free from the secular, ritualistic laws in the Old Covenant (including not eating pork etc) and spurred on to use the Ten Commandments for a spring-board into the spirit of the Law. As Jesus pointed out, not even looking at someone lustfully, nor thinking hateful thoughts - far, far more impossible to do than the Ten Commandments! But with the Holy Spirit's enabling, we are lifted up and beyond legalism into true freedom - to be holy, as God is holy. And I'm a member of what many foolishly think is a 'legalistic' religion. It isn't - but others judge by mere appearances.

Well, is Romans 6:15 - 7:25 part of this New Covenant? Or how about James 2:14-26? Should I celebrate my new-found atonement by banging my wife's sister after killing my nephews? Or maybe, JUST MAYBE, should I strive to obey the commands of God just because it pleases him, not just out of necessity for my own salvation?

(1)If you mean like "don't eat this" as in don't eat pork or any ritually un-clean animals - well, if you believe in God and that we are created by Him, you must also believe that no one knows us better than Him, physically, emotionally, spiritualy, psychologically etc. therefore He also knows what is good to our body and what is not. In Mark 7, Jesus makes it clear that spiritual cleanliness is not affected by what goes into your mouth and stomach but what goes out of it...but does that mean God would not care anymore what we put in our body? Don't you think God cares about the WHOLE PERSON: spirit, soul & body? There is such a thing as physical reality regarding these "unclean foods". Many of this labeled unclean animals are primary scavengers while some are predetors. they do not have the kind of multiple digestive system that the cud-chewers do, so the poison they consume goes directly to their flesh. Only these so called unclean animals are regular host to such parasites as the trichina worm...and who knows this better than the one who created us all! So, since we are no longer under the old law, following this command for some people would probably be just for health reasons ...
(2) If you mean like "don't do that" or "don't say this" as in the traditional or superstition stuff old people always tells us to do - well, if its not Biblical based then we better just ignore it, but still with respect to the person asking us to do it. Jesus is enough for us, our friend and saviour. Its sad though while many people claim to be Christians or believer of Christ yet they still lie, they still covet, they still do sexual imoral acts outside marriage, are still commiting homosexual acts, they still commit adultery, no humility in their hearts, no love in their soul. Many acceptable/normal things of this world are still and will always be totally un-acceptable to our Father.
Yes, everyone is special in the eyes of God but not all will be called in His name...

"I follow Jesus because He is the one I serve".
Water is wet.
The arguments don't lead to more people following Jesus, if you know what I mean.
I realize that somehow Jesus got deep in your heart and you believe all the good things happen from Him. What of the people whom have good things that believe it came from their hard work? Will you address this directly or continue to use the previously known clause "I follow" into oblivion? It is just as much religious behavior as those whom you judge for religious "cr@p".
After two very tough divorces, I am not certain this suffering is part of a "mountain I must climb". I am more aware of my own self and of those who also suffer though losses. I believe this is where to address issues regardless of anyone's stance on the Trinity. Take care.

I am sorry, but you are wrong with this one. Just because we live under grace, doesn't mean that the law doesn't exit. Yes, you have to obey the ten commandments and you can. Not within your own strength but through Him who strenghtens you, Jesus Christ. "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me". We cannot completely ignore the laws God has given us. Without any laws people couldn't live together, think about it,,,,,,,

the bible very clearly states that ''he who sins tramples the Son of Man underfoot.'' yes, we're under grace, but that's because God knows we can in no way follow all this ''religion crap'' that He commanded us to follow. that doesn't mean He expects us to be a bunch of lawless apostates, but we're actually held MORE accountable now, both because Jesus died for us, AND because we are not ignorant of His Law.

Sweetheart, you have two things that somehow, because they are close in similarity, when integrated, many humans also get confused over.
And that is Christianity and religion.
Reading what you wrote after the Q, totally right!
Good One!*

Hey Cindy, That's why I am Spiritual instead of Religion is what man teaches. Spirituality is what the Bible teaches, and God is Love. Spirituality is what's inside us and that is God, he is our soul. God Bless you!!!!!!!!!!!
