So i have picked between either of these majors and am going on to get an masters degree then MBA after college. my question is which can i get more involved with marketing/sales? my future goals are to make alot of money this way and start researching/working on anything space oriented stuff far as getting our race off the planet and to the moon and beyond. with electrical engineering i could explore new energy technoloies but with mechanical i could just as well design the spaceships themselves! can you see the predicament im in? i just cant decide which has the most practicality for the rest of my life according to my goals. far as position id like to be a ceo hence getting the MBA degree. (dont you hark on me you English majors, i know i there are some misspelled words ha). thanks -Nate

Ok thanks for responding for the first two people but you arnt helping resolve the question at all, no offense. simply i AM going to get one of those degrees- which one should i pick with an MBA that will give me the most options to move up into management and start my own space research company. or even simpler - i want to become rich and use that money to research and build stuff to explore outer space, or build new energy sources. (just refer and answer the question above if you can, i dont really know if what i just wrote helps)

With your stated goals about space, I'd recommend Mechanical Engineering.

I'm going to throw in my cynicism about MBA's. There are many engineers that have obtained their MBA's. I bet a majority of them won't ever use that degree.

Also, an engineering degree seems like a waste if you want to go into sales.

In regards to your goal of becoming rich, space exploration and owning a research company. The secret to making a small fortune in space and research. You start out with a large fortune.

Couple of comments here have some truth to them. Take heed!

You wan't to know which degree has more practicality and will work well with MBA?

Both will. Because I am mechanical engineer and I know electricals. Both degree are solid engineering degrees and will teach you how to think like an engineer. Mechanical is more hands-on and I think more interesting than electrical.

If you go to college as mechanical, take courses in engines/propulsion. Do some research with professors.

Forget about MBA for now. Since you haven't even started your undergraduate yet. Don't be surprise if you change your mind on this altogether even before you finish your BS.

Why, after learning to be a god would you want to go on a become a leach? We need more engineers designing and building things and less leaches taking what we do and shuffling papers! You don't have to have an MBA toy degree to be a CEO.

You know what buddy,
doing M.BA is as simple as that.Anyone can do it
and get a JOB.It doesn't matter what stream u are from.
DON'T STUDY the above mentioned engineering subjects
-these are meant for good students-not for freaks
and business managers.
Better take up some commerce subject.HUH!
And my DEAR FRIEND,SPACE STUDY is NOT SO SIMPLE. And no one can RESEARCH in science/space after doing M.B.A. It IS TOTALLY UNHEARD OF.
STICK TO YOUR MONEY STUFF AND FORGET ABOUT SCIENCE/SPACE/BRAINWORK.
OR do it THE OTHER WAY ROUND IF U HAVE SOME GREY MATTER.
