Catholocism was created back a couple hundred years ago. It was created when Christians came to Egypt. When they got there, there was allready a wide known religion that praised many Gods, not just one. So what happened was that the two religions blended together and we get what we have today. Instead of praying to one god, like Jesus Christ, they pray to Mary and the saints. They believe that if they pray enough and give enough money to the church, then they will get into heaven. That is why the Catholic church is so wealthy. They keep up the lie so that they can get money. So my question is, if this religion is false and we know it, why do people follow it?

Wow! Where to start?

+ Catholicism +

The Catholic church is much older than "a couple hundred years."

The Church has referred to itself as the “Catholic Church” at least since 107 C.E. (about 10 years after the last book of the New Testament was written), when the Greek term "Katholikos" (meaning universal) appears in the Letter of St. Ignatius of Antioch to the Smyrnaeans:

"Wherever the bishop appear, there let the multitude be; even as wherever Christ Jesus is, there is the Catholic Church."

We do not know how long they had been using the term "Catholic" before it was included in this letter.

+ Mary and the Saints +

Catholics share the belief in the Communion of Saints with many other Christians, including the Eastern Orthodox, Anglican, Episcopal, and Methodist Churches.

The Communion of Saints is the belief where all saints are intimately related in the Body of Christ, a family. When you die and go to heaven, you do not leave this family.

Everyone in heaven or on their way to heaven are saints, you, me, my deceased grandmother, Mary the mother of Jesus, Mother Teresa and Pope John Paul II.

As part of this family, you may ask your family and friends living here on earth to pray for you. Or, you may also ask the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint Andrew, or your deceased grandmother living in heaven to pray for you.

Prayer to saints in heaven is simple communication, not worship.

Asking others to pray for you whether your loved ones on Earth or your loved ones in heaven is always optional.

+ Money +

The Catholic Church has have never taught that giving money will get you to heaven.

Penance, acts of fasting, prayer, and almsgiving may make purgation easier (get one out of purgatory) but penance will never get one out of hell. Only the grace of God can save a person.

By the way, the average Protestant gives much more to their church than the average Catholic does.

+ With love in Christ.

First, Catholicism was not created a couple of hundred years ago. It was created nearly 2000 years ago.

Second, the Egyptians stopped worshiping many different gods long before Christianity. By the time the Christians arrived in Alexandria, the Egyptians were monotheists.

Third, Catholics don't believe that prayer and money get you into heaven.

But you are essentially right about Catholicism being the synthesis of Egyptian beliefs with early Christianity. Except that Egyptian religion, at that time, was essentially the religion of the Greek Mystery Schools, and Christian theology was based upon Alexandrian Judaism and Greek philosophy.

If what you say were true I would be the first to leave the Catholic Church. Jesus said, “Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. – Matthew 7, 1-2 (KJV)

My answer to your question is the same as the other Catholics. In fact, I think you already knew beforehand how we would answer your question. This question has been asked a zillion times in YA.

Why do you say these things about my faith? Oh, I know what you will say, “we don't want you to go to hell; we love you.” That has to be the lamest and dullest excuse in years. Do you really expect us to fall for that line? Catholics do not bash other religions because we know we belong to the true Church. If you are so sure about your beliefs why bash Catholicism? You have already told us a million times what you do not like about our faith. And you have also warned us a million times we will go to hell with those beliefs. So, what really is your reason for attacking our faith again and again? I can only think of two reasons: to validate your own faith which means you are insecure and unsure of your own faith or you just want to bash my faith.

Fundamentalists, Evangelicals and Pentecostals talk as if no case can be made for the Catholic Church. How sure are you that you are right and we are wrong?

If you are so sure about your faith you should not turn your back from this challenge.

You owe it to yourself to accept the challenge because you should be worried about your own salvation not us.

I am not a Catholic, but Catholicism is a denomination that understands the "way" Jesus Christ intended for some converted believers.

I don't normally answer questions for those who are intentionally as misleading or stupid as you, but I'll make an exception, just in case you're truly as ignorant as your question leads me to believe.

Jesus personally founded the Catholic church and the Holy Spirit presided at it's birth on the first Christian Pentecost, in Jerusalem, around 30 AD.

The Catholic church has remained one, holy, universal, and apostolic ever since, with Jesus as it's head, the Pope as it's earthly leader, and the Holy Spirit as it's official guide and comforter.

It will always remain so, simply because God wishes it ... and we also have Jesus' personal assurance of that, in scripture.

The Catholic church remains the original and only non-denominational, fundamentalist, evangelical, charismatic, eucharistic, bible believing, full gospel church.

All of the authentically Christian denominations continue to subsist within the Catholic church, although imperfectly so.

And outside the Catholic church there IS no salvation.

Stay away from the "white dragon"(heroin) !

I don't know what's more concerning your soul or stability ?

I do admire your courage to humiliate yourself with what you believe to be true?

A rare find indeed.

Rather than challenge the Church in a contest of authenticity, would you settle for a grade 2 spelling 'B' instead ?

Where in the world did you pick this garbage up? You know nothing of Catholicism and this rant simply makes you look stupid. This is the worst pack of lies about the Catholic Church I think I've ever seen.

Revelation Ch.17 V1-9 tells us that the Lord will destroy the Catholic church during the tribulation and gives the reasons as to why!

Blah blah blah. All religions are syncretistic mashups of older beliefs.

And check your history. Catholicism was founded in Rome.

Hmm...thanks for the info.
I'm glad that your question was conditional. It throw into question the idea that Catholicism is false. "If this religion is false..."

It is not false. That is why people follow it. (Using the logic of your own question)
