York is lovely so is Beverley. Hull and Grimsby are both hideous places. The Lakes are gorgeous. Harrogate, Ripon, Otley and Ilkley are also lovely. None of the big cities are nice places to live in my opinion but I'm from the country so I'm sure people from cities will disagree with me. There are so many gorgeous places up north you would have to come and do a tour round.

It depends what you're looking for.
I live in Manchester, but I'm a city person. I couldn't stand to live somewhere like York, but it is a beautiful place so I can see why people like it.
I need a 24 hour Tesco within a 5 mile radius of me at all times!

Ripon - a lovely small market town with superb countryside all round. Close to Harrogate and York both fab places (but more expensive) and not that far from the Metro centre in Newcastle if you love shopping!
