My parents pushes me to take up nursing course for college but i don't want to. It's not my field of interest..I go for media studies. They say once I graduated nursing I'll go to other countries to earn big money because there's no hope that we can be rich here in our own country.

I hate my country! I really do! but not ever once came into my mind to leave the Philippines and work abroad. Why do this have to happen to us? Why do we have to leave the country for success? Why do I have to argue w/ my parents w/ what course shall i take? Why is our country like this? Are we even a country? According to a book I've read, the Philippines cannot be considered as nation. That is why we are still called The Philippine Islands! Why is that so?? ANSWER ME!!

I guees you haveto stick with your preferences. Better do Media if you like, if that is what you want, Why do nursering if this is not what you like? I am sure that now or later you will find happiness as you want. As for immigration, it is sad but many countries are in the same situation as Philippines and most of the people in the world are living in poor countries Most of them don't immigrate because they find happinees on their own. As for me, I left my country and I understand your hate- I hate my country too for the same reasons.
But I was lucky that my parents allowed me to choose any job I wanted.

Bottom line - these health care practitioners are migrating to achieve better paying salaries and opportunities for their families. A start can be increasing preparedness and preventative care in the country. Health promotion and education are important areas in heath care many communities disregard. With this includes improvements in the environment, socioeconomic status, sanitation, etc. Targeting underlying causes of disease and illness dramatically improves health and consequently society. I agree improving medical services since medical practitioners are leaving is an important issue - I would just like to input my advocacy towards public health practices...taking care of disease causing factors in order to prevent the need for serious treatment.
