you will able to attend services on Christmas day. They treat that day (only) as a Sunday routine. all other days are business as usual.

The Navy allows you reasonable accomodations to practice your faith. That means that you get to go to church every week if you choose, and you will have the opportunity to go to the Christmas service as well.

The RDCs are usually pretty lenient on holidays, so it's not all bad being there over a holiday. I was there over Thanksgiving, and (at that time) if you had relatives near, you could go off-base with them and have dinner or something for a few hours. If no relatives in the area, they have families that can "adopt" you for the same few hours. It's not so bad.

No, you don't get a few days off from boot camp. The Army does though.

Don't say "basic" though. That's what the Army calls it. We Sailors call it "boot camp"

I was at navy bootcamp during christmas two years ago. We didn't really do much that day. There was Christmas mass and other denomination sevices. The food was a little nicer that day as well. Most people got to make phone calls home as well. But the next day is game on.

When are you leaving for RTC? That makes a huge difference. IF, and only if, you've got enough time under your belt by the time Christmas rolls around, you can spend the day with your family or possibly be adopted by a local family for the day. If you don't have the time in yet (I think it's six weeks minimum) you'll be stuck at the barracks and it'll pretty much be like any other Sunday. Our son was lucky. He left for RTC on October 30th, which gave him 8 weeks so we got to see him for the day. If your family plans to come, tell them to call RTC and get on the list just as soon as you get there. Good luck!

Boot Camp is Boot Camp Miss. Yes you are allowed to attend Church on Sundays. I was in Boot Camp also during Christmas. The Holiday was celebrated but you still perform all of your normal duties. Standing watch and making a tight bunk and so on. Days off Miss? Seldom and few and far between. Do well in your grades and classes. it will broaden your chances of being offered an A School after you have completed Boot Camp. You will do shore duty and sea duty. Take advantage of your age Miss and do well. I wish you well.

I was in boot camp for the 4th of July. Everybody was off except us. We were stuck in the barracks. There was a fireworks show that we got to see, but we had to watch from our barracks area. I would expect the opportunity to attend church.
