It's not that we don't have any beliefs... I believe in love, peace, and miracles- if not in the traditional sense. I think the main difference between my perspective and that of someone very religious is that I see man as acting alone- not influenced or affected by a divine force, but acting on his own in the universe. I know that may sound lonely, but I love that idea... that what we accomplish, we accomplish ourselves, and that all our lives are the blend of our choices and our circumstances, with no intervention in between. I think of life as a testament to the human spirit, not as the creations of a god. I think this is why I don't feel alone- I feel connected to every living thing as the result of billions of years of evolution and growing and changing, and I feel proud of every human accomplishment because I feel that they're my brothers, and we all share the same amazing legacy from such humble beginnings.

The purpose of my life is to achieve what I can, and leave a good legacy to the world when I'm gone. When I'm gone, I will leave memories, and small changes to the world that I hope will keep on going. I just want to make life better for everyone while I'm here.

it feels great. My life is no different than yours. You believe in a god and worship a god. It seems like every person who has god in their life cant accept others, even though thats supposed to be one of your virtues. I never feel alone in the universe, i have a family who loves me, a wonderful husband, and amazing friends. I dont need a god to fill some kind of void. I dont feel any more cynical than when i was when i did believe. I believe that everything happens for a reason, so if you could call that believing in miracles, then yes. The purpose to my life is happiness, living day to day making sure that im keeping my family proud, happy, and safe. I take care of my 95 year old grandfather. I sacrifice my life for the happiness of those around me.I live to do volunteer work, i actually run a local organization that does taxes for low income families for free among other things. I dont think being an atheist suddenly turns me into a bad person.

No clue, since atheists have LOTS of beliefs. We simply don't believe in gods.

I never feel alone and I'm not cynical. There are no miracles. Atheists have many different life purposes.

A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

Just because i don't believe in a higher power controlling the universe, doesn't mean that i automatically have no faith in life or humanity. I, myself, am an enduring optimist. And, i actually feel much more sure of myself now that i'm atheist (i used to be religious). The only thing making me cynical is the way we are degrading and destroying our planet.. but, i still possess hope that we'll pull through. =)

My purpose of life would be, simply, to live this life to the best i can, not to regret so much or fret about the past and what cannot be changed, and to ensure a good future for generations to come.

It feels good. No dictator controlling your every move. You have sexual freedom without sexual promiscuity. Miracles are things like not getting a ticket for running a red light in front of a cop, not rendering the lochness monster back into the sea like that pope did. And my purpose in life is to be the best I can be for my friends and family. I also support many charities as does my atheist daughter who every year since she was seven does a play where all the proceeds go directly to the Children's Hospital of Pennsylvania.
I thought you weren't allowed to judge?

Actually, atheists do have some beliefs, except the fact believing in imaginary supreme being(s) does not happen to be one of them.

I do not fell alone in the universe, I sincerely doubt I am cynical, I think there is some explanation for miracles.

I cannot say for others, but for myself, it would be to search for the truth and not believing some manbo jumbo without proof.

Your question seems a little like your interviewing an Alien. Happiness is a journey it's not an end to a means. Some may feel if they suffer enough here on earth, they'll somehow make "brownie points" in the hereafter.
I'm not an Atheist, however, I get offended when someone tries to tell you that they have all the answers and your facing "eternal damnation" unless you adapt to their way of thinking.

I feel great. Now I can do things that human beings are naturally meant to do and not feel bad about it. It's about time!
Maybe it's prideful, but it's the ignorance and corruption of religion, the flaws and the contradictions, the negative influence it has on people that really gets me going. Religion's a fine idea, scare people into behaving, but educating them does the same thing. Being someone who believes in liberty, I tend to go for the latter.
The purpose of life to an atheist is to enjoy life.
"If God exists and he is truly just, then he will judge me by the content of my actions, my motivations, and the honesty of my character, and I will have no problem getting into Heaven, even if I choose to not follow organized religion on earth. If God exists and he is not truly just, then I wouldn't want to worship him anyway."

It feels... "real".

I'm not alone. I interact with people every day. I could remove myself from society and then truly be alone, but I haven't... and thus I'm not.

I was an unrealistically optimistic child and then became a cynical adult. Atheism really had nothing to do with it.

No. I don't believe in miracles.

There's no universal or preordained purpose. My personal purpose is to raise my son.
