Im not sure but is it this? Euvolemic hyponatremia occurs when the total body water is increased slightly, total body plasma [Na] remains the same, and urinary [Na] > 20 mEq/L. It can be further classified based on urinary [Na] levels.6 Euvolemic hyponatremia is just one type of hyponatremia. Hyponatremia is the most common form of fluid and electrolyte imbalance seen in hospitalized patients.1 It is characterized by abnormally low sodium levels in the plasma, usually defined as a concentration of <135 mEq/L.2

Diseases commonly associated with euvolemic hyponatremia include syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone (SIADH), hypothyroidism, adrenal insufficiency, and pulmonary disorders.6 In general, hyponatremia may develop as a result of underlying disease states or with the use of certain medications.2 It is important this condition be identified quickly and accurately to achieve desired results from treatment.2 Left untreated, hyponatremia can result in neurological disturbances and increase the risk of morbidity and morality in underlying disease states. 2,3

Euvolemic Hyponatremia accounts for about 60% of all types of chronic hyponatremia, of which, the syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion is the most common cause. 7 This potentially serious condition remains largely underdiagnosed. In one study of hospitalized patients, only one third of the cases of hyponatremia were properly identified4 while another study found that 18% of nursing home residents aged 60 years or older were hyponatremic.5
