It is, but after a while, repetition of the same process leads to your body getting used to it, and you end up burning less calories as you used to [although you still will burn calories, just not as much or effectively]. So maybe after a while switch up the running for cardio or pilates, and then switch back to running. Increasing and making it more challenging would also help, like just increasing the distance. =]

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.

It's not just excercise, but excercise AND diet that help you loose weight. If you are watching your caloric intake and running 2.5 miles a day, yes, you'll loose weight.

yes, the treadmill is fine but, you will want to switch up after a while. you might want to try some aerobic exercises, kickboxing is excellent.
