My tv can only support up to 1080i, i may watch blu-ray movies but its unlikely. My tv is 60 inches. Should i buy an hdmi wire or component? (i know hdmi is better, try to make the answers situation specific :)

I think 720p is better than 1080i so go with that if you can, also the difference between HDMI and Component is not that noticeable so don't waste your money.

HDMI, definitely. Mine only goes up to 1080i too... the difference between 1080i and p is negligible. Component and HDMI cables cost about the same too, so definitely HDMI. I couldn't believe that this was actually a question... but anyway, HDMI.

Component because it can go to 1080p even if your tv doesnt support it and depending on ur tv it will look really crisp and amazing
HDMI is too "overprotected" even if you configure it to play 1080i it will do its own settings really dumb plus hdmi is for lazy pple who like that one wire type thing i dont care i returned my hdmi cable and im going for the component one i had before
