i asked my mom to buy me a new cell phone because my other one broke and im low on cash right now,but no matter what she refuses.i dont understand it because she brought my brother a phone and im older than he is! im in college and i work hard in school so why could it be that she is treating her children different? i mean is this fair? what should i do ?

Oh I feel you sweetie, I guess you are just over reacting to the situation because of the urgent need of the cellphone too, well, don't judge your Mom as well, maybe the reason why she is not getting you a cellphone because youa re working and may afford it, or maybe she wants to punish you, ..well parents can be unfair sometimes..and vice-versa..kids too,,so for you not to feel worst.just keep pace first and see a good timing when you can talk to her, heart to heart..Im sure she isn't that bad!!! So not to make matter worst, don't worry and don't even get even with your brod ok??now be nice and take care!!!

Is your brother still in High School?
If so, that could be it. Your brother is still dependent on your parents for the things that he needs...so your mom felt obligated to buy your brother's phone. Your in college, your parents really don't need to be buying your cell phones. It is fair and it's not that she is treating you all differently it's that she is helping you realize you may not always have someone to fall back on. If you really don't have the money, then talk to her about paying her back..or something, that way she doesn't have to view you as a child. [even though your her child] She may be more willing in that kind of scenario.

She is probably trying to teach you one of those life long lessons,because even though your already in college she still thinks of you as her baby.So just tell her that you are really stuck in a bind and that you would really appreciate it if she would help you out with your cell phone and you'll reinburst her when you get enoug money!

Your brother is not you. You are not the same, so shouldn't be treated the same. Maybe she feels like you're not responsible enough? How did your other phone break?

Being the oldest has disadvantages. She may think that you are responsible enough to handle the situation on your own. In a way it's a compliment.
