Please don't mistake ignorant for dumb or stupid; that is not what I mean. This is sort of directed towards Christians or anyone who has studied the Bible. What are the afterlife options for a person who never hears about Jesus or the Bible in their lifetime? Are they doomed to hell for eternity? Isn't God merciful as it states in the Bible?

No one is ignorant. All cultures have laws to abide by. The one who breaks the law is fully aware of his actions.
Romans 2:6 Who will render to every man according to his deeds:
