I believe most birds like Cockatiels and other parrots are scared of brightly colored things. Not all birds. But I know my Parrolet was terrified of green things and my cockatiel is afraid of bright blue things. I think it is just because bright things similar to their coloring look like larger birds to them.

Yes, individual birds are scared of different colours.
Red is a common colour that birds appear to be frightened of or attack at first.
My lorikeet usually shys away from unfamiliar red objects, but goes crazy if he sees something yellow.

Not always. A majority of birds are used to colours, as they themselves are coloured brightly. Many birds are attracted to different colours - parrots to fruits, sunbirds to flowers. However, some species are aware of red, orange and yellow, which are often indicators of harm. These colours are often on the bodies of amphibians.

I don't know of all birds but my umbrella cockatoo doesn't like the colors black purple or red... I can't feed her fruit colored parrot pellets because she will pull all the color out and just eat the natural colored one.

well my cockatiel at first had this food with brightly colored seeds and he loved them! i ran out of them and i got a different kind but he wouldnt really eat any. so i found a tiny bit more of the colored seeds and put them on top and he hopped right down there and started gulping down his food! now he eats his food even though it does have color! lol! so my bird kinda likes bright colors. i wouldnt really think that birds would like a BRIGHT red. but idk.

My umbrella cockatoo is also frightened of red. She gives an alarm call if large red things appear on the T.V. From her cage, she can see the sports field outside. If the soccer players are wearing red uniforms we have to cover her cage.

My cockatiels spend most of the day on the play area on the top of their cage. They both seem to be afraid of a specific purple dress. If I wear it, they both freak out and I can t catch them. I have to go change clothes in order to catch them. I have other purple clothes and other dresses that don t freak them out but thet specific dress? I can t even get close to them in it without full blown panic!
