the simple answer is ignorance and arrogance. they preach about matters they don't understand, usually from sources that have an agenda and are so blinded by their own church/pastor etc.... i see this especially in protestants against catholicism.

It's not a case of bearing false witness, as much as it it judging other religions, paths, against their own. In order to make their causes and beliefs more outstanding than others, they tend to blow their horns the loudest. Stand on street corners and thump a bible and shout verses. Leave annoying pamphlets all over public places, (which is sort of good in restrooms, need toilet paper sometimes),
Remember Jimmy swaggert, and Jim Baker, robbing, cheating others, including on their wives, all the money that was taken from gullible people to build their mansions, all in the name of God. So when you see them on the corners, give a nice wave and a knowing smile, and enjoy your path, or religion.

God is the first one to speak about other religions except He does not use the word religion. He uses the words false prophets and false teachers, so did He sin?

Maybe I should ask you why you "lump together" all people who read the bible....and I have no idea what you mean about "bearing false witness" unless you are referring to exposing the theology of some other religious belief and how it may differ from what the Bible teaches is the truth.

It is not about "religion". It is about learning Who God is and why He sent His Son, Jesus to die for you, so that you could be saved for all eternity." It has nothing to do with a church, or a church building, or a church pastor, or traditions, etc.
It only has to do with what God says is truth....And He said "He/or She who has the Son (Jesus) has Life (eternal life). And he/she who has not the Son(Jesus), shall not see Life (eternal life), and the wrath of God abides(already) on them."

He (God) is very clear. Believe on my Son(Jesus) and be saved. Believe not, and you are already lost!

Where does that mention a church, a religion, or anyone else's.? Christians (the ones who really know God) will try to tell you the truth...and those who don't teach it....they want you to find God's Son. Jesus Himself said "I am the way, the truth, and the Life...no one comes to the Father (God) but by Me".

It was God's plan to save us all. But He gives us each a choice. Now that you have read this, you have heard the truth. It is now your "choice" whether to listen or not. God also says "The fool says in His heart there is no God". I'll pray you listen....and instead of "labeling" people, consider they might be just trying to tell you what they know to be true.

How many times do people need to hear this, WE ARE ALL SINNERS! Anyway, besides that we are just saying that our religion is the right one, not really bearing false witness. We want everyone to join us in following Christ.

They're looking for that pat on the head from God.

I have never born false witness against a religion. Just because some people do not like the truth does not make it any less the truth. Why do you judge when we are told not to judge? Get the plank out of your own eye before worrying about the speck in mine.

Apparently it's not an offense if THEY say it. Because, you know, they'd rather be happy and righteous than actually right.

Oh, I love being called a "fundie" - thank you so much.

You need to give an example - you are not complete in what you are asking for. But wouldn't expect that from someone who calls others names.

The truth is never offensive.

Vague accusations like these, are.

So, who bears false wittness against what?

Be specific.

Or else, you just lie.
