I have a condition which caused my body for many years to over produce epinephrine. I'm now being treated, but I don't feel the same as I used to. Is it possible that this could have caused brain damage, even if I wasn't taking a drug, and the drug was being produced by my own body?

Epinephrine is a catecholamine, a neurotransmitter, a hormone and a neuromodulator. It is produced endogenously. If you were diagnosed with pheochromocytoma, then you should have the operation to remove the tumor(s). If you don't, you run the risk of developping hypertensive crises- very bad. These hypertensive crises can have an effect on your brain as well as other organs. The effect comes from the severe hypertension (and vasoconstriction) and not a direct effect of epinephrine on brain tissue. But long term, these effects can be devastating. Your body has to get used to the new levels of perfusion pressure now that the pheochromocytoma is being treated. This may take some time.

Do u no what the condition is called, that made Ur body over produce epinephrine?

I don't think it.. the epinephrine.. would cause brain damage, U need to ask professions this question.. unless there is some on this site..??
I read that it is like adrenaline..so perhaps when it was over doing it.. u felt strong.. and ready to go.. and Ur brain was pushing it.. where as now..

if u are on medication... u aren't as strong in mind, nor brain.. just normal and it seems crazy to you.???

good luck...

Pheochromocytoma needs to be surgically removed at selected centers. Brain is not damaged in that condition.
