i need to rotate it because i want to make it bigger (so it will fit the page - the page is taller than it is wide, and the chart is wider than it is tall)

Don't think you can.
Cannot rotate text unless you use Wordart,
but,
if you want to take the time to redo
make a copy to be safe and experiment with the copy
select a cell
click Format
cl Text Direction
pick one
See what happens?
Is it worth it to you to redo the whole thing?
I have done it with column headings, for example, and have formatted text direction for an appropriate circumstance, but why would you want to rotate it?
If it were to go in a report, you could Insert Break, cl next page, set that section as landscape, and put the chart on it.
At the end of the chart, Enter, then Insert, Break, New Page, to return to portrait.

You should buy a reference book for Microsoft Word if you use it always in your work.
