Sit him in a warm bath and let him pee in there, i know its gross but it takes away the sting.
He may endup causing alot of damage holding it for that long, at the least a urine infection.

Well you said it hurts....he's probably afraid to pee because he doesn't want it to hurt again, take him to the doctor so the Doctor can give him something for the pain!
as for making sure he doesn't hold it for 10 hours again...try getting one of those potty chairs where when you pee in it the bottom changes color or when you pee a little star apeers or reward him with something until he's got the hang of it!

Poor baby. He is probably afraid to go because of the pain. I would just reassure him that it will stop hurting soon and if he doesn't go he may have to go back to the doctor again. He could get a bladder infection.
In time he will realize that the pain is gone and go. What great bladder muscles he has to hold it that long. I couldn't do that. Sorry he is suffering so. Take care

You can give him a warm bath to go potty. Give him some cranberry juice it can be mixed to improve taste in case he is getting a urinary tract infection. It will work give him a couple more days to get better if he doesn't improve take him in, a guarantee he will though. Call his doctor explain what you are doing to improve the situation. I am sure he will agree. Oh! no bubble bath for awhile till he is more comfortable. He could simply be a little traumatized from the ordeal. Just call the doctor and give him the cranberry juice no harm in that at all. You are a great mom to be concerned. God bless your heart.

run some water or make him think about going pee because when you think about peeing, it makes you have to go even more
oh yeah, and u should really find out why he is afraid to pee, maybe it hurts when he pees or maybe his pee is burning? that can be serious so if that is the case, i advice u to speak to his pediatrician
also, maybe u can give him a reward if he pees

Take him to the doctor to make sure that there is no reason why it is still hurting.
If nothings wrong, then just give him time, when it doesn't hurt, he will go on his own. And you can try giving him a little extra water so he can't hold it.

It'll heal and won't hurt anymore. He's just putting of the painful at the moment. He'll be better and more normal soon. It's only been two days and they stretched his little thingy on the inside. That's PAINFUL. For a few days at least.

Sit him on the toilet and pour warm water on his privates. It will make him pee and it distracts from the pain somewhat. Also it rinses away urine that could be stinging an open wound. Did they give you a peri bottle after he was born? This is kinda like that.

A 2 yaers old child can undestand that you are worry about his or her condition, specially if the child is not with you check with the doctor if everything on him is ok. Then do not ask him or her anything about going using the bathroom, or if dad is around, ask him to take it when he's going to use the bathroom and he will learn what to do.

give him time. it could be because of pain, so you could put him in a warm bath which will aid in easing the pain
or the procedure irritated the little guy and it might take some tome to heal...kind of like chaffing
take him back to the doc though
and don't try forcing him to...he's afraid for a reason, just comfort him
