if you are trying to fix a problem, you can boot to the xp cd and run the install repair. on the first menu choose install windows then f8 then on the second choose to repair windows install. it will look like you are installing a fresh copy of windows, but what it is doing is basically upgrading itself which keeps all your files intact it will restore the system files back to default.

sound like your system restore service was turned off or something messed it up.

Some viruses keep system restore from working. After booting into safe mode, I would unplug the internet connection to keep the virus creators from connecting to your computer.

if your back arrow is not working, the most likely problem is that your early restore points have been deleted, which means you cant go back there anymore. this usually happens when you use 3rd party erasers to delete stuff such as tracks eraser. you might also have accidentally deleted them through the disk cleanup wizard.

Hi!

If u have passed one month then there are less chances of going back to the previous month.

IF u cant get the previous month in the calendar then u have to restore the system to current month's earliest point.......

;) :)

Here is some good information on how to repair Windows. You may have to do it in Safe Mode. I'll include information on both.

To get into Safe Mode:
>>>Power on
>>>When you begin to see the system working in black and white, checking memory, etc., press and hold the F8 key.
>>>Continue to hold F8 down until you see the black and white DOS menu. I believe Safe Mode is F3. Press it.
>>>Run your antivirus software. Windows will not be loaded and hopefully you will catch any self-executable files.
>>>When you EXIT Safe Mode, Restart. Windows loads and your desktop icons will probably be messed up. Just drag them back into place.

Now, repair Windows.
