In summary, a peripheral photograph is one in which the entire outer (or inner) surface of an object is depicted on a single flat sheet of film or paper so that all surface features of the subject may be examined at once. The simplest form of a peripheral view would be a representation of a cylindrical can,for example, which shows it as a flat sheet. In practice this can be accomplished by simply slitting it along it's side and pressing it's curved surface to lie down as a flat sheet.
