It's somewhere in the midwest but I don't think god has a fighting chance- I mean he's in heaven- how will he ever find a lawyer?

It's about time somebody sued Him. Breach of Contract, Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress, Negligent Infliction of Emotional Distress, Fraud, Recklessness, Murder, Geonocide, Mayhem, Breach of the Covenant of Good Faith and Fair Dealing, Adultery (let's not forget Joseph's wife). I think He's looking at about 1,000,000 years to life if convicted.

The stupid part is that some law firm filed papers representing God and a court clerk accepted them. Now the case has to be heard.
Now if God fails to appear and a warrant needs to be issued, what happens to the God referrence on the money. Will it still declare trust if God is a fugitive?
The people who filed the papers for God might have thought they were doing a good and religious thing, really sticking it to an atheist, but now what are they going to do. Because the case has been brought by a government representative it is pretty well impossible to declare it a frivolous case and throw it out. If the lawyers who filed fail to represent they can be disbarred.
There is a good possibility that some poor judge is going to be forced to issue a summons to God for failing to appear or rule that God does not exist.
Not nice choices.

The guys point is people today make to many frivolous law suits, so he is suing God. Which obviously no one can get a hold of and hence wasting our money to prove a point.
Yeah he is still wasting our money, but at the same time I hope other people take notice and think before they sue someone because they didn't get a job "because I'm a women/man/black/Mexican/to old/ to young...." When really they just weren't qualified. Or because they feel "mentally" abused by a co-worker who took their sandwich.

OMAHA, Neb -- State Sen. Ernie Chambers is suing God. He said on Monday that it is to prove a point about frivolous lawsuits.

Chambers said senators periodically have offered bills prohibiting the filing of certain types of suits. He said his main objection is that the constitution requires that the doors to the courthouse be open to all.

"Thus anybody can file a lawsuit against anybody -- even God," Chambers said.

Senator Chambers... and he explained why he was doing it... NH Dumbledore pointed it out. He is doing it because of all of the absolutely stupid lawsuits that are in our court systems now (most of which have to do with petty religious arguments). He's not actually trying to sue God. It's my understanding that he doesn't even believe in the Biblical God. lol

By the way, why would "God" need a lawyer? lol But if he had to get one... all he had to do was tell Satan to send one up. ^_^

Heathen

Yes I have and God has filed papers in this suit. He does have a lawyer somehow. Anyway, this guy was just trying to make a point about meaningless lawsuits in today's society.

He's in Wisconsin. And he's suing God for creating mayhem in the world. Do you think that the omniscient God needs an attorney? Who would know more than God? ;-)

In reality, the suit is to point out how ridiculous some lawsuits are that are clogging the court. In that way it's a publicity stunt. The plaintiff is a Wisconsin state representative and is an atheist.

From what I understand he's trying to make a point on the number of frivolous lawsuits that are tying our court systems up.
