I have currently two Kelpies and a Red heeler and my Rhodesian Ridgeback who is the family pet.
However one of my Kelpies is pregnant and I am going to retire her for awhile, so I will need to replace her.
I don't want another Kelpie, otherwise their maybe a little jealousy.
What dog would you people recommend I have a look at???

The dog will be rounding up sheep, cattle, ducks (ok my young red heeler loves annoying my ducks!!), and just generally helping our on our farm. It isn't very big, but it is big enough. I rely on my dogs alot.

A rescued Australian Cattle Dog sounds right for you. Rescued working dogs sometimes perform their job even better than pups trained from birth.
Or why don't you just keep a puppy from your Kelpie's litter?

Just how much stock do you have to be worked? Sounds like 2-3 dogs is plenty for any one ranch hand.
Anyways, I say go for a Rescued Aussie Cattle Dog or rescued Border Collie. Very simple to find them in shelters or rescues, and make awesome working dogs once given the proper training.

It really depends on the sort of work the dog will be doing. Are we talking stock work here? If so, probably depends a bit on what sort of stock. Cattle...maybe a heeler or cattle dog, or something like a Coolie. Sheep...maybe something like a Border collie

I don't know that getting another Kelpie would cause too many jealousy problems as compared with getting a dog of another breed, but if you don't want another kelpie, fair enough.

Regardless of what you get, just be sure that it's got a good record with stock (I'm assuming you'd be needing a trained, adult dog?) Last thing you want is something that bites stock and needs to be muzzled while working.

Short haired border collie, Border x Kelpie, Blue cattle dog, smithfeild Blue,Australian shepherd, depends where you are and what the working they do, If your in a high tick area you want a short haired dog, ie short haired border collie, German Coolie, kelpie or kelpie x. Whats wrong with getting a different marked kelpie, you have obviously had success with them, there are many nice colours to choose from. You have Black, Red, Black 4 eyed, Red 4 eyed, the red go from a pale dingo colour through to a real earthy red.
Then there are your other dogs bread for hearding, Corgis, Rough collies etc.

Set yourself up with an Akita rescue organization (not sure where you are but maybe I can help), adopt one and enjoy the ride. My personal favorite breed and I can't say enough about their loyalty and character. Ban the deeds not the breeds....great breeds out there...not so good owners sometimes and the breeds pay a price for it. Get yourself an education on the breed, they are not for everyone and NEED NEED NEED to know who is in charge, they are too big and too much a dog to be the alpha.

Get a Australian Cattle Dog (ACT). They are good workers and are good in the heat. What sort of work are the dogs going to be doing? ACTs come in two different colours, speckled blue/grey and reddish. They are very good at herding sheep/cattle.

I'm also the proud companion of a Red Heeler and I won't ever buy another breed EVER!!! Get another one of these guys and you won't regret it. As you know, no dog can match their cattle herding skills...except possibly the Corgi...AND they are tremendous guardians/companions. Go for it!!!

border collie. Check out the rescue sites in your area. I have a border collie, I don't use him as a working dog, but let me tell you, he will herd anything around him. He herds me and my family when we walk around, he likes to try to herd my other dog in the yard, dogs at the park.....it is kinda cute, but after a while gets annoying because I tend to trip on him at times. They have endless energy and are great working dogs.

Black lab.
We taught ours to fetch the paper.
Well...he was only half lab, the other half was Golden Retriever. Smartest dog I ever MET...and will never see a smarter one in my lifetime.
