She hasn't had them long because she just started to scratch within the week. If i use frontline and giver the dip will I still need to bomb my house. I have to toddlers and I can't just up and leave for an entire day. I will however wash bed clothes and couch stuff, etc. Will I need to isolate her or anything. Never dealt with them before because she is my first pet since home and never was outside until like 2 weeks ago.

She definitely has fleas- don't trip about bombing the house. But do wash everything and get your cat advantage. I'm dealing with the same problem. As soon as I get my check, I'm taking my kitty to Petsmart for a conditioning Shampoo and Condition, a Flea Dip, some Advantage and a flea collar. I'm currently pregnant and due to deliver any day now- so I need to rid the house of fleas.

Do you have carpet? If you do, try to shampoo your carpets. I have hardwood floors so just washing stuff will work for me. Also when you go to the pet store, look for the flea powder that you can sprinkle on the floor if you have carpet and vacuum up. (It leaves behind a pleasant scent and you can put it on the cat too!)

I know it sounds expensive and a bit much, but a cat is a wonderful investment that when flea-free can be very happy and loving for you and your family. Plus, I'm digging the fact that you have your cat around the little ones because kids learning how to love and treat animals with respect is very important. I always applaud people who do it.

Best Wishes!

Jessi~

P.S. Be careful about having an outdoor/indoor kitty. Kitties that are stricly indoors live 3-4 years longer than outdoor/indoor cats and are less likely to wander off as well as eat from other sources that could be unhealthy to your cat. If a cat is indoors you will always know what she eats and can make sure that she stays flea/tick free.

Don't bomb the house. A complete waste of time because bombs don't work - nothing from a pet store does. Pet stores aren't licensed to sell the proper chemicals for flea treatment - anything you find in store is just going to be a basic pesticide that you can't expect to work. So you'd be going through all that hassle for nothing.

Just use the Frontline on the cat. Do not wash her before hand, you have to wait 48 hours after bathing before applying any spot-on. Just get the Frontline on her skin, not her fur, and she'll be covered for a month.

You do need to treat the house. Like I say, don't bomb. Get a proper spray from a vets - you won't have to evacuate, you can do upstairs then downstairs, and just move people round accordingly.

This just happened to me this past July when I adopted two cats from our local shelter. Make sure you give your kitty Frontline Plus as it kills the fleas as well as the eggs. You can buy a spray at your vets office that will kill the fleas in your home as well. It is not cheap (around $21) but you will only have to vacate for a couple of hours versus all day with a bug bomb.

I had the same problem when my indoor cat got out. If your cat just got them a short while ago, I don't thnk it is necessary to bomb the house. I combed my cat with a flea comb and them applied Advantage behind her neck. This took care of the problem. She has not had fleas since. There were some other good solutions offered to the same question by another cat owner. Check them out. One may appeal to you over this one..I would advise you to never let your cat out as she will get fleas. It's best to have an indoor always cat. They are much safer from everything out there such as traffic. other animals etc. Good luck

Advantage flea med works extremely well. Washing clothes and stuff is a good idea. That will help. This may sound weird but don't isolate her into one room. If she has fleas, they could be all over your home already. Once you put the flea meds on, they will die pretty much instantly. Plus, she can actually get rid of all the fleas in your home for you once she has the meds on. Wherever she goes, the fleas will want to hop on her and once they get on, they will die instantly, so she can actually "bomb" those fleas for you. I used to do this with one of my cats. I would put the meds on my most active cat and let him roam the apartment and that basically kills any fleas in my home. Funny but true!

I would not use frontline. Some cats have violent reactions to it. Many people report better results with Advantage. You should use least amount possible to rid the pet of fleas. I don't think you have to resort to radical bombing. With a good cleaning of rugs, blankets, etc, you should be able to get rid of the eggs. It's better to prevent fleas by not allowing your cat outdoors.

Do you have carpeting or hard floors. If carpe sprinke liberally with baby powder leave it for a few hours then vacuum well.
Be especially vigilant around the edges of the room.
Also get some special flea shampoo from your vet or the pet store.
Good luck
