Christian - truly born-again as well as the religious kind; atheists, religious adherents of all persuasions and others, Please be honest with your answer.

It is what you expect(ambition and ulterior motive) and do not receive that makes you frustrated and resentful. It does not matter what others have or do. when you do something for someone, do it because you see it is wise and right and not because you feel you have to. Are you such a one? Do you agree and if not, why not?

My advice to the newly wed bride and groom always is:

"Do the best you can and do not expect any thing in return."

I say this to both of them separaely and assure them that if you keep doing the best for your spouse, he is bound to love you and will do sooner or later his duties also. Don't fight because he doesn't help in washing dishes or doesn't change diaper of your child. You will go in your grave and will be rewarded in heaven for your good deeds may be much better than your spouse. So keep on doing the best you can.
Those couples who have followed my advice do not have problems between them AlHamdu Lillah (all praises for Lord).
I have been advising couples for last 40 years.

What I think you mean is that what I do is without an agenda.

That is true. I do what I think needs to be done and don't expect that anyone thanks me or notices.

I have given lots of money to people. Many don't know it, they just know their problem went away.

My wife shares this with me and we find happiness and contentment in knowing that we can smooth the sharp edges of life for other people.

"True Love Does Not Expect Anything From Anyone." every time a christian expects to lecture someone about religion fail... everyone who expects people to join their religion fail....

Me... I love those who I love but I don't love everyone... at least I admit to that... so when I love I do it right...

My ex-husband and I tried it and believe me it works however, we were not able to stay in the spirit that long...sadly. The bible tells us to put the other first and when you can truly walk in that you have continual peace.
