Ramen Noodles. They gotta lot of flavors that all taste salty, but for like 30-40 cents a pack?? Not bad. Eggs, that can be used in a variety of ways. Tuna and a couple of boxes of Tuna Helper, some of which may take milk, and if thats the case you can always buy a small carton. Microwavable burritos, taste like crap, but are decnt for a quick bite. Generic spahgetti O's and such, there is a wide variety of cheap t.v dinners that are not too bad. Get stuff to make large pots of chili or stews, that can be refrigerated an re-heated, that will get ya through a couple of days. hope this was helpfull.

Pasta...there are several different types and they are all cheap for the most part.
Any canned goods will last almost forever before you use them.
Butter...last very long refrigerated and you can also freeze it.
Most cheeses will last quite a long time.
Eggs....check in the back of the stack for the latest date. You can usually get a good month out of them.
Bread will last longer if it is refrigerated or frozen and then thawed as needed.
As far as meats...processed meat will last the longest.
Hot dogs, sausage, ham and bacon.
If you plan to buy potatoes. They will last much longer if the are refrigerated.
Invest in Veleveeta as it last forever in the fridge and can be used for all kinds of cheap meals...mac and cheese...grilled cheese....cheese dogs etc etc.
And Last but not least...Ramen noodles!

beans red kidney to make chili with which you can freeze some and eat some, with that rice. Ground beef for the chili, and maybe a burger or two. Eggs. Canned vegs, like corn and green peas, which can go with rice. Oil and ketchup. Peanut butter and Jam......crackers. Spam is good to have around even tho people hate it, I like it myself. Pork and beans also. Be sure to look over the sales flyer from your supermarket because sometimes they have buy one get one free deals.....just be careful cause it adds up quickly.

Peanut butter and jelly. Yum Yum Good to eat all the time.
Beans are cheep. Also I think eggs give you a lot of good food for the cost. Pancakes give you a huge amount of food for the money! Spaghetti too. Oatmeal (you can get it in different flavors) is really cheap and not bad in the maple and brown sugar flavor!

Pasta. You can make a big batch and freeze portions.

Beans. Extremely versatile. Great protein when you can't afford meat. A little goes a long way.

Potatoes. Makes for a good filler (like ramen).

Hit the grocery stores for their "must sell today" meat. Take it home & freeze it. It is still good.

things that are cheap would be mac and cheese, ramen noodles(sooo many different flavors), hot dogs, go bargain shopping and get big things of ground meat, porkchops or chicken that you can individually wrap up and freeze when you want to use them. Or you can always get on foodstamps...

Beans, they are dry (uncooked) and last without preservatives. Grains like rice. People live off things like this when they don´t have money,
