I'm so sleepy, but I can't get to sleep. It takes me a good 2-3 hrs to get to sleep, and when I am asleep it's a restless sleep, waking up every few hours and having to go through the process of falling back to sleep. I have a lot of stress in my life at the moment, so this isn't helping. I get the feeling of being so tired it's like walking around in a fog, and I'm constantly forgetting things if I don't write myself a sticky note. I lay in my bed, with every thought imaginable running through my mind. Everything from my ex boyfriend to what I had for lunch. I can write lists galore, but they never help. I don't know what to do, I feel like I'm going crazy from the mix of sleep deprivation and stress. Throughout the day I have to take a deep breath so I don't snap at someone, and I usually have a very passive personality, letting people get away with almost anything. I find myself just sitting there, my eyes locked on something in the distance, and unable to move, blink, or think.....

my grades are starting to slip, because I can't concentrate and am thinking really really slowly. What can I do, I'm only 15. My mom doesn't think that my problem is as bad as it is, she thinks I'm just overreacting, and I'm not.

If you were older I would recommend a good glass of wine or a tylenol pm. But since you are only 15 here are some things that might work instead...
take a hot bath

read

drink a cup of warm tea - but caffeine-free/sugar free because those things could keep you awake longer

avoid caffeine - even during the day

avoid excess sugar

also, exercise during the day can help alleviate stress. Do some strenuous activity for at least twenty minutes - maybe running???

Also, if there is anyone you can talk to - it helps to get it out - to just vent a little bit

Hope these things help. I've been there and when you are going through it it is hard.

Try an otc sleep aid for a couple nights so you can get some sleep. Consider taking a vitamin with extra iron in it. (Your fatigue could be anemia.. if iron vitamins help you after a few days, stay on them and your just anemic, no big deal.. if it doesnt help, dont keep taking them. A that point you need to consider a doc.

Cut back on sugars, bad carbs, and caffiene. And absolutly none of those a few hours before going to bed. All those things can cause lack of sleep, and fatigue.

Are you taking any narcotics? Legal or not, narcotics can seriously mess with your sleep and energy levels.

Try to ignore all the stupid drama at school and concentrate on getting along at home and making good grades.

I sometimes have the same problem.
Here are some good solutions
If you can, take a hot bath before bed. this will cause your body temperature to fall after you get out of the hot water, and make you want to seep.
DO NOT watch TV or eat anything an hour before you want to sleep. Your body takes a long time to digest food and if you sleep while it is digesting food, it will be a light sleep.
Drink milk before bed - it has natural sleep inducers.

See a school counsellor. It is normal as teen. You will feel how unlucky you are for cannot seeing a doctor and you will feel how lucky you are. I believe you live in America/England. Why not just see a doctor, free psychiatry service. Tell him you have a very serious problem. It is easy.

I use to be able to shut my eyes and just look at the inside of my eyelids ,, there is nothing there , but a colorfull typ of grayish darkness the colors will come and go,, if you think of nothing , but just watch the changes , think of nothing , and some designs and swirls will apear , think of nothing , watch ,,the swirls will turn into like cartooney things that will turn into other cartooney things , still don't try to make sence of it , just watch the cartoons will slowly turn into a dream , and morning will be on its way , ,,, you will probably have to remind yourself to think of nothing , and just watch , but don't try to make sence of it ,, "sorry for repeating myself ."

there could be a lot off reasons for all that. it's probably stress. as horribel as this sounds, do you have any nyquil or medications to make you tired? they usually help. and if thery dont you probably should go to the doctor and see what they can do for you.
