I say true.

I say true because that is demonstrated whenever the leadership does the turnabout on a doctrinal issue: the new interpretation is published in The Watchtower magazine, and millions of JWs SIMULTANEOUSLY change their mind as to what to believe.

That would be a big TRUE

that brings to mind an organization statement that the Governing Body was better informed than Noah Was! Think about this: Who gave Noah his directives? The Voice of GOD. How arrogant the Governing Body is. Witnesses better start paying attention to what is right before their eyes.

This is true, their beliefs are based on whatever the watchtower society tells them. JW's are warned against independent thinking as the society calls it. They can even be disciplined or disfellowshipped for asking the wrong questions. They come to your home asking you if you want a free home bible study and they don't study the bible. The first thing they give you is watchtower literature. I thought when you have a bible study you use only the bible. They cannot function without that literature.

True. I agree with you Nina. In fact, since watchtower beliefs take precedence over the Bible then if I remember right wouldn't that be idolatry? If I remember right, one of the Ten Commandments is ' Thou shalt not commit idolatry.'

A point of clarification needed re mesquite's answer: The New World Translation covers both the Old and the New Testament. Five men were responsible for this translation and only one had adequate schooling and background to function as a critical Bible translator. His name was Frederick W Franz. In a Scottish Court of Sessions trial in November 1954, he was unable to translate the Hebrew of Genesis 2:4 when invited to do so by an Attorney (Pursuer's Proof pp7, 102, 103).

Now, to your question. Christian beliefs are based on what God tells us in the Bible. However, those beliefs are not always logical! Take the doctrine of the triune nature of the Godhead as an example. However, they can always be backed up by evidence from God's word.

As a former JW I understand why they claim that what they believe is based on the authority of Scripture. So when we take the beliefs of the JW's and hold them up against Scripture then we can see whether or not their beliefs are Biblical. Given the way they have deliberately changed words in their translation of the Bible to suit their own beliefs, then it becomes clear that they are preaching a false gospel.

Regarding authority, I agree with you. The Governing Body tells them what to think, what to say, how to dress, how to live and anyone who disagrees had better look out. The fear of expulsion and shunning is used to keep people in line. Yet there should be no fear in love because perfect love drives out fear. That is not how the Watch Tower Society operates. Their final authority is not scripture - it is the Governing Body and the elders who carry out their demands.

False. If there were such a turn, everyone would be encouraged to look at the evidence themselves.

The beliefs I held before I became a Witness were definitely not based on logic- for example, I believed in a 3-in-1 God, who had a part that prayed to the other parts...........

Absolutely.

You are correct.

A couple verses about modesty have been made into:

Dress according to their rules at the Kingdom Halls, conventions, and in service with no exceptions.

1. Men must wear dress pants with dress shirts and ties.
2. Men cannot wear jeans or casual clothes to the Kingdom Hall.
3. Baptized men cannot have a beard in most places.
4. Men cannot have long hair.
5. A woman can't hold a position of responsibility in the congregation
6. Women must be in full submission to their husbands.
7. Women and small girls must wear dresses or skirts.
8. No skirts or dresses that are above the knee at any time.
9. If you are a woman you can't pray aloud in the presence of baptized men.
10. Cannot pray or be part of a public skit like presentation without a covering on your head.
11. Cannot wear pants to the Kingdom Hall if you are a female.
12. No pierced ears if male, other body parts if female.
13. No tattoes male or female.

"And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone" Matthew 4:6
Here satan uses scripture to tempt Christ.
Now here is the scripture satan was referring to, Note what he leaves off.
"For he shall give his angels charge over thee, { to keep thee in all thy ways} " Psalms 91:11.

Here is a picture of what the JW's do, and all that practice deception.

That Question Reminds me of the Following Nina:

An incomplete picture of God’s Word can be dangerous without the full picture, one could easily be misled into thinking that they are serving God while doing something diametrically opposed to his will. Jesus warned his followers concerning such remarks as mentioned here : “In fact, the hour is coming when everyone that kills you will imagine he has rendered a sacred service to God.” (John 16:2) The people back then may have been sincere in their killing Christ’s followers, but they were wrong. Paul tells us what their problem was: “For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God; but not according to accurate knowledge.” (Rom. 10:2)
Perhaps this speaks of Those against Jehovah's People..
