the best thing i tried was "Abreva" you can buy it without prescription.

The best treatment for cold sores/ fever blisters unfortunatly is Valtrex. Cold sores are the result of a for of the herpes virus. If you get your doctor to give you a perscription for Valtrex you can prevent the sores all together.

Try swishing salt water around in your mouth, and avoid touching it with your tongue....
that's about all you can do?
Oh yeah, sucking on ice cubes numbs the pain.
