I would love to open a clinic for young mom's age 13 & up whom are pregnet for support emotionally and finanically.
To teach options and offer health and stability to be a mom.
I believe a person pregnet and never been around kids, do not know the love of a baby. Its sad to hear about babies
being left alone and the sad ending of fatalities.

I guess I volunteer with 3 rescued dogs that require medication 24hrs a day. I live on less than $1K a month and I donate to hospitalized veterans support groups, when I can. I was a trainer at a goodwill store ,with manic depressives. fun and games there. Since I'm a mechanic by trade or ex trade, I fix peoples cars who have little money, they buy the parts. So I volunteer.

I volunteer*ed* at the local NHS hospital until about a month ago. Now I work there for pay =p.

Health services are free here, and that includes emotional support for young mums. Financial support is a different matter... benefits (welfare) are more generous here than in the US but they're definitely not enough to support a family! Besides, once you work, you don't get any more benefits, and people on low incomes actually earn less working than on state support... so young mums are torn between the pressures of parenting, making ends meet, and having to decide between a rock and a hard place (low income or low benefits).

Of course, teenage mums are also more likely to be single mums... and the government is not very friendly (in terms of benefits and such) towards single parents as they want to "encourage people to form families".

Yours is a very noble dream. I urge you to go for it.
Because ,at 65 , I still work full time, I do not have much time to volunteer. However, I give financial support to groups and individuals who need it.
My Mother is 93 and has Home Hospice care, so this group is dear to my heart right now. They do such good things for the elderly at the ends of their lives. I hope to one day volunteer to help them provide care in our area of North Texas. I am already providing some care for my Mother, so figure I could qualify.

I volunteer for the Peace Alliance Foundation, doing on line research and data entry. I believe that peace is a necessary foundation to support all other human rights.
