Do employeers not like to hire women with children or something? I have been appling for jobs like crazy and i have been going from interview to interview and still not one offer. I have previous work experience working with money and managing and cant even get a job as a teller. I have not been working for 2 years cus ive been at home taking care of my child and husband, and now its time i got a job cus money is getting tight and just not able to get any job. I actually think i remember one time before i had my son i had an interview with a hospital and they asked me if i was pregnant or thinking about it cus basically they dont like hiring women with babies whats the deal with that.

I also want a job to just get out of the house and interact with people other than just my husband. And lately I have really been thinking about what I'm doing wrong, because I had a really great interview and i thought i had it in the bag, and no. and i even knew someone who worked there, and they put in a good word for me and still nothing. i have an interview for a cleaning job at the hospital. If they dont hire me then i dont know what to do. I've been thinking to get an online degree to see if that will help me, but i'm just not sure if it will help.

I'm having the same problem, but for a prospective employer to ask you questions about your personal life is not only sometimes offensive, but it's also ILLEGAL. Especially for them to also make the comment that they don't like hiring women with kids. That's discrimination!
I don't know why exactly employers don't hire SAHM's...I also have a lot of experience and have been applying and interviewing a lot, and have not had 1 call back! We don't really NEED the money, I just want a part time job or something to do during the day because our kids go to school full time now (we had pre-k last year 1/2 day)...the money would just be a nice bonus for us to do fun stuff with, but anyway I know what you mean! It's tough for us SAHM's!! Good luck in your job search! Hope you find something soon!

Teller jobs are actually hard to get.
To answer your Questions:
1. You have been out of the work force too long
2. Women with children tend to call in sick if their kids are home sick
3. Women with Husbands are not taken as serious job candidates because they are seen as only wanting a job for "pin money" .Employers assume husband is the bread winner.
4. Yes the child bearing age comes into play for numerous reasons. Benefits, Medical leave, Maternity leave, Temporary replacement of pregnant employee while out on leave

If you have been interviewed many times but have no offers perhaps you might review your interview style or your resume. Body language, appearance, knowledge of the position applying for, as well as knowledge about the company, will also play a part

Good Luck

A big part of it is yes, you are a mother. Another part is, the job market is failing. They don't have to take someone that they feel is going to cost them more time and money (insurance, sick days because of your child). The fact that you haven't worked in 2 years is also hampering your efforts.

Same thing comes from having one job for several years, and having no other references to jobs (because they closed, changed companies, etc) makes it very hard to find a job.

Welcome to America, where nothing is about the children. Get used to it.

Every other industrialized country has allowances for mothers- except ours. No wonder American women die like flies from heart troubles while other countries women actually out live us. We gotta do the job of 4 people just to qualify for anything.

Just keep applying. Someone will hire you.

They see that 2 year gap of unemployment(even tho being a SAHM is work) and wonder if you are going to up and quit the job to stay home again.
