You count from the first day of your last period. So, if your last period started 5 weeks ago, you're 5 weeks pregnant.

Bu the embryo is only about 3 weeks.

you start the count from the first day of your last period, which would of been 5 weeks so you are 5 weeks! the 2 weeks difference as conception days(typically days 11-14) give you the 2 weeks le-way at the end when you are allowed to be upto 12 days late after your due date, hope this helps! you will get all this info from the doctor and midwife when you tell your gp they give you verbal advice and lots of helpful books and leaflets..

the midwife will count your weeks from the day of your last period so if you are 5 weeks late then you will be classed as 9 weeks pregnant, good luck and maybe a good idea to do a pregnancy test to make sure.

If you are actually pregnant, you take your dates from the first day of last period and count the weeks from then. This is just an estimate, but at your first scan, they will be able to adjust your dates according to his measurements (if necessary).
