let's just say that every thought begins innocent as this and gradually increases in evilness. This is how Lucifer thought, he knew he was spiritual and decided to kick it up a notch. He not only wanted to be immortal and be god like God but decided to have others praise him like they did to God and eventually had his own followers which were a third of the angels of heaven. Guess where that brought him and humanity today, well we've arrived to our evil destination. Now we want to clown humans, abort them, you name it, what will be next if we are not stopped?
This is what a free will of thought and action does to us when we try to do things independently without God's guidance including religion. We really do need Him to rebuke us, praise Him for that.

There would certainly be a necessity for FAITH, which is not necessarily the same as religion. There will always be circumstances in our lives where we need to acknowledge that there is Someone greater than us and that we need to bend our will to the One who created us.
If people were actually to become immortal on earth (Christians know they will be immortal in heaven and live for ever because they are saved by grace, the death of Jesus on the cross- so your question will make them smile, they will know they will live forever one day) Anyway, faith would be even more important to the one who in immortal on earth, bue cause he will see years and years of wars and conflict and humans hurting each other. This person would cry out in agony and sorrow and the injustice he sees century after century. If anything, this person would most likely be the most affluent spokesperson FOR faith and religion, having seen so much first person and being able to say "this is what happened 200 year ago"
Read "Gulliver's Travels" there was a character called the "strolbrooks" who were people who were born with a mark on their forehead who lived forever. BUT they aged like everyone else, but they simply never died. Eventually they suffered every illness known to man, and their minds got so bad they couldn't even read a simple sentence. It was a terrible life, and they begged for death.

There have always been way in which we can be immortal. There are portions of this dialog which will carry on forever.
Religion by itself is worthless, just repetition and doctrine.
Faith transcends immortality, and they are in two different realms.
for instance, if a mere human as we are today were to live for a thousand years, the depth of their mistakes and their loses throughout those thousand years would drive us to quibbling blobs or retched reactionaries. Faith and honorable deed based in understanding would be the only things that could be expected to preserve our egos for a life that long. My point is, without Faith and the Religious practices associated with Faith, immortality on the human level would be impossible to manage.

There would be no more point to religion in the case of immortality than there is now being mortal. Religion may well be about mortality, but, you're right....it's pointless. It's all about having a relationship with Jesus Christ....right here, right now.....and that's about love. Eternal life is just the icing on the cake.

A better question would be, "If you could, would you WANT to be immortal."
Interesting question, though.
So much focus is on the religion of it. Do I believe there'd still be a need for a religion? Not necessarily. I don't much care for RELIGION now. But I do believe in God. What will still be required is faith. Faith and religion are two different things.
But back to my opening. I can't just look at your question as asked. Religion, Christians, whatever you want to pull into it....doesn't matter.
I wouldn't want to live on this Earth forever. Eventually it's just going to freakin' explode and your immortalness won't matter.

There wouldn`t be any point for the robots. However it is very important to the living being.. I don`t want to be immortal if it means living without God..

Um.. yes. What if you drank a potion that made you never age at all.."No more point in caring about dieing cuz i never will." The next days rolls by....BAM Your smashed by a car. I don't think theres a potion that makes your skin rock hard enough to survive that. Do you think religion would be invalid then?

Jehovah created Adam with a perfect genetic code to pass on ever lasting life to his offspring on the condition that they remain faithful to Jehovah.
When Adam sinned, Jehovah removed that ability and scientist will never find it because they don't have a clue what it looks like.

What good is anything apart from the Savior Jesus Who is my personal and best friend. One day I will be with Him in glory, and my eventual death would get me there. Bottom line is that HE is The Way, The Truth, and The Life, and there is no life apart from Him.
I would still need Him no matter what because life is nothing without Him.

It's already happened. Christ died for our sins to give us eternal life. John 3:16 All you need to do is discover and accept God's salvation plan and immortality is yours.
