"The Bible of 400 CE and the Bible of today differ by dozens of chapters and thousands of parts."
Name them!
It's true, some bibles include books that others do not. I consider these "abridged". There is nothing new about this.
However, other than deciding which texts to include, no real editing occurs in scholarly translations.

Well, most people believe that the Bible has been tampered with. But in the *Codex Vaticanus, in the oldest and earliest manuscripts of Hebrews, there is a note for one of the scribes who tried to edit the text. It reads "Fool and Knave, leave the old reading, don't change it."
Apparently the first scribe erased a word and tried to substitute it with another. A second scribe overlooked his work and found the mistake.

It is a good question.
Depostin says:
Some times meaning is lost in translation - as far as updating goes,
George Bernard Shaw
“No man ever believes that the Bible means what it says: He is always convinced that it says what he means”
Some are saying the truth but others are trying to cover the truth and not to accept the truth with lame excuses.
Jesus instructed his disciples to preach only to the lost sheep of Jewish faith and not to the Gentiles.
All previous Divine scriptures were only for the guidance of particular people. These captures were not meant to be preserved or less God would have managed to save them.
Quran was revealed for entire mankind and God has saved it buy building in Quran. One of them is that non-Arabs who who not speak the Arabic language can easily memorize entire Quran in Arabic. And it has been memorized by millions of Muslims through out Muslims countries. Quran contains lots of knowledge including scientific facts that neither Bible nor Torah contain.
Christians who are looking for the truth God guides them and they are find the truth in Quran, are accepting the truth and converting as Muslims. Who are stubborn and do not want guidance God doesn't guide them. At the of world they will be one of the loosers unfortunately for their sutbborness.

The Bible (thanks for capitalizing it by the way, what respect you show) has been translated and updated many times. Some times meaning is lost in translation (not the true meaning, you still get the point of it all, just that we don't have 4 different words to describe types of loves, for example_ - as far as updating goes, it is done to help modern people understand the language more easily than say, the KJV with all the thy, thou, etc.

The Bible of 400 CE? The earliest complete text only dates to the 11th century (that's 600 years later than your date). Are you talking about manuscript fragments or the Greek versions? Just curious of your source. Thanks.

Man is NOT suppose to edit it. Period.
You can only do the best you can do. God takes into account the way his words have been manipulated and does not hold it against YOU.. He only asks that you, be the best YOU, that you can be.. He is a loving Father.

No body has edited the Bible. It was inspired by God, to be the book it is today. There are copies that people edit, but they will get their punishment when God returns.

Man can edit the Bible all they want to , but they can't change God's word if it is in your heart.

400 CE? Are you sure about that? Almost every English translation made from the turn of the 20th century until now has been based on the four extent 4th century manuscripts. What editing are you talking about, exactly?
