A) HIP HOP HEAD- has the highest level of knowledge regarding the History, Culture, Style, Artists (past and present), Hip Hop terminology, Knows how to structure rap verses, Can freestyle at any given notice, owns all or most of the tier 1 albums from the greatest MCs, is familiar with complete ALBUMS. pretty much an expert on the topic, very avid. To u, HIP HOP is not a "hobbie", it's a lifestyle.

B) BIG FAN OF HIP HOP- Has a good amount of knowledge, but admits to not knowing everything about Hip Hop, VERY Eager to learn more.

C) SELECTIVE HIP HOP FAN- Has a small amount of Hip Hop knowledge. May own a few albums, but is really only a fan of a few select favorite artists, but doesn't really care about the Hip Hop culture as a whole.

D) FAKE HIP HOP FAN - will bump mainstream hits as they come out. Doesn't know who Rakim or KRS-1 is and doesn't care. May refer to Rakim as an "It" (lol). May pretend to be a fan to impress friends, but really knows nothing about Hip Hop

By the way, these criteria is not written in stone. This is just how I pretty much group the type of fans. Of course you don't really have to OWN all of the greatest Hip Hop albums. You may not have gotten around to buying them just yet... LOL. But you definitely have the "knowledge" or is in the process of getting the knowledge. And age has NOTHING to do with anything. Most of the heads on here know WAY more than I do about Hip Hop (you know who you are) and let's just say I'm not no spring chicken :)

hmmmm..... I DOUBT ANYONE WILL VOLUNTARILY ADMIT BEING A "D" LOL!

Calm down Rashida. It's just for fun. I clearly said above this is NOT written in stone. And quite honestly, I wanted to add more details for each category and possibly another category but I ran out of characters and was too tired yesteray to keep adding details (it's long enough as it is!). Again, this is just how *I* group it and you don't have to meet ALL criteria to be a considered a true head, you might just have the passion, but I think most people who've answered gets the jest of it.

RASHIDA YO STUPID. YOU ARE CLEARLY C duh! **SELECTIVE HIP HOP FAN** You said yourself the "greatest" MC don't do nothing for you and you like what you like (south and west) LOL. But what I wanna know is how could you say you can't stand East Coast?? Are you crazy that's the birthplace of Hip Hop!! Even the fakest Hip Hop fans would never diss East Coast. I'm from the West but I always give props to the East cause that's where Hip Hop started.

Anyway I consider myself a straight up HIP HOP HEAD!! I love Hip Hop, I eat, breathe and live Hip HOp.

I'm a selective hip hop fan. I'm very old school and most of my music is from the 60's and 70's. Sometimes when I hang out with my daughters a lot, they will school me on what's out there. Sometimes there are songs that are kind of catchy so they like it when we're in the car and I turn it up because it's "my song".

Well I'd have to say I am between A and B. I am a hip hop head, but I still have a lot more to learn in regards to the history.

I think that you are missing some categories. There are some people that don't care for what people feel are the "best MC's in the game" Some people love the kind of hip hop that they like and that's it but just because I don't listen to all hip hop that is considered to be the "greatest" does not mean that I don't love hip hop. And you can still know a lot about mainstream hip hop and not be a fan of all of it that is out there. I know about a lot of hip hop, but I can't stand a lot of East Coast music, I just can't stand it. I know about the music and the artists, but the do nothing for me and they have never done much for me. I like West Coast and Southern Hip Hop. But that makes me selective? Get a grip!

id like to think im a hiphop head...but according to your definitions im either a B or C...

why im not A: i cant freestyle at any given notice. i dont own that many albums. i dont know much about the HISTORY of hiphop, but i know lots about the present. and i dont live hiphop, i dont rap or dj, and im not that good of a bboy (3 of the 4 elements of hiphop, i do graff tho)

why im B:i have above average amt of knowledge of present underground/local artists. i do admit to not knowing everythign about hiphop, and i would like to learn more about it.

why im C: uhhh, im a selective hiphop fan. i dont enjoy mainstream that much (except at dances or when i feel like acting stupid). but i do care about the culture
