Hey guy, had to write this down....looking for some feedback.

My little yorkie was getting old, she started losing her vision and hearing and we knew soon she would be gone. Tonight though my parents let her out on the balcony (2 up) to get some air...I was in my room and heard screaming and howling. I ran downstairs and couldnt see her. Ran outside and she was lying in the garden below us. She was still alive sitting crying. I burst into tears as soon as I saw her, I thought I was just thinking the worst. I carried her up and she started crying whilst we phoned the vet. I am a complete mess, depressed, I cant sleep and worst of all im going to miss the best friend I ever had...since I was 7. How do you cope with this. Our whole family has just broken down - especially my Mum. Any ideas how I can help myself as well as my mum get through this tough time? Thank you. Paul

Paul, I'm so sorry for your loss. Diane is right. Nothing anyone can or will say will take away your pain, although those of us who have and will answer can try to give you some some and your family some comfort during this difficult time.

know that it's easy for for me to tell you to try and remember the good times and the happy memories you shared, but it's not always that easy to do. Know that your dog will live in your heart forever in your heart, even if one day you get another dog. No dog will ever take the place of the dog you lost, , and she will always hold a special place in your heart, as well she should.

I'm going to give you some web sites to look at that may help you through your grieving process, as well as a few sites where you can place a free memorial for your dog , and hope that the sites will give you some comfort.

Try to remember that your dog is waiting for you at The Rainbow Bridge and he probably having a good time playing and running with my past dogs until we both see them all again.

Again, my deepest condolences. She was, and will always be, adorable.

Rest in Peace Little One

I am sorry to hear this. Hear is a poem that made me feel better.
Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor;those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they each miss someone very special, someone who was left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; his eager body begins to quiver. Suddenly, he breaks from the group, flying over the green grass, faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into those trusting eyes, so long gone from your life, but never absent from your heart. Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together...

My mom lost her dog due to cancer a few years ago. She was a wreck. The only thing that helped her was time, even though that sounds so typical and not like help at all. I would imagine (as I thankfully have not lost any of my animals yet) that grieving a pet is a lot like grieving a human loved one. Keep the good memories alive, stories that are quirky or funny that involve the dog...etc. Eventually time will ease the pain, but not the memory of the dog. I'm sorry for your loss, that must be so difficult!

I am so sorry for your loss. It will take time to heal. I know that may not comfort you now when your pain is so raw, but time does take an edge off the pain. Just remember the wonderful times you had with your beloved pet. Make a scrapbook with pictures of your dog. Memories are a real comfort. It sounds like your whole family is grieving over this loss, so take comfort in your family, and talk about your dog with them. Together you will get through this.

I am so sorry for you that you have to go through this I have a maltipoo who got really sick and i thought that i was going to lose her but thank god she recovered. I don't think that there is much you can do because this is someone that was a part of you family and loved I think time will heal your pain. Just make sure that you always keep her in your memories and hopefully God will bless you with another pet who will have Trixie's spirit

Dear Paul - time will heal this hurt. You just have to go through it - you will always miss your best friend.

May I suggest seeing a movie with Robin Williams called When Dreams May Come. The key is their dog Katie is old and crippled and dies. Much later the father of the family dies and goes to "heaven" and there is Katie happy, healthy and running through 'heaven'. I believe all animals (and others ) go back to the Great Spirit and are happy.

We are the ones who suffer - missing our friends. In time you might adopt a dog who needs a home just like yours - loving and kind. Best to all of you in this sad time -

So sorry to hear that. It is very hard to lose a pet because they are so loving and you grew up with her. I also lost my dog a few years ago so I feel for you. It will be hard for awhile, but pretty soon you and your family will start talking about all of the happy memories you had with your pet. That will feel sad at first but soon you will be able to feel happy by remembering all of the great times with her. I hope you and your family feel better soon. I think all you can do right now is be there for each other and comfort each other.

Paul, my heart breaks for you. No words will take away the pain you feel tonight, but maybe knowing people care may help just a little.

Your little darling is at the Rainbow Bridge now. She's a young pup again running through those lush green fields and feeling no pain. I know right now that's not going to help, but in time it will.

Sending a prayer for you, your family and your little girl. Just remember as long as she lives in your heart she will never really die.

I'm so very sorry for your loss

EDIT: I tried to watch your movie hon, but it's just really dark. I could not see little Trixie. I did try.

The best answer for any loss is lots of prayer. God will confort you in your loss of a pet just as well as he would in a loss of a friend or family member. Your Yorkie was a family member and loved by all.
