if he's telling you and doesn't like to sit in it sounds like he is probably ready...each child is different and you can't go by generalities like boys are different than girls to go by when deciding to potty train. Go by your child's behavior towards it...and sounds like your little guy is probably ready!
Good luck!

I heard its really hard to toilet train boys..so i started taking my son to the toilet at 13 months....to introduce him to it.. he cant tell me when he is going yet, so i went by instinct ..i didnt always get it right..but now he is going more often..and he knows what he has to do ..at first he would only stay there for like 2 mins..but now that he is getting used to it ..he sits there until i take him out ..i give him a toy to play with while he is sitting down so that he doesnt get bored or frustrated.

this should have already of started. you see the signs he is ready by him telling you pee pee or poo poo and him not wanting to keep his diaper on. also 16 mo is the appropreate age to atleast introduce this to him and try to get this started, to start you can put a pot pie dish in the toilet and some fruit loops in it and make a game out of it and have him aim at the target, it always helps better if a male is the one to teach.

Train, Train, Train away!!!! I am jealous that your boy is interested...lol. My 3 1/2 year old is completely un-interested!!! I am at wits end. I've tried a ton of different things and he is absolutely not interested. Hoping one day he'll finally get it and just say, "Mommy......I'm ready".

you can try but dont expect too much boys dont train until age 3 or at least around about age 3
i started my son at 18 months and he fought me tooth and nail until he was ready, he was 3 and a half when he finally got it and it took a day. he decided on saturday after our summer vacation that he was ready. we have only had a few accidents since then.
follow his cues and try if nothing happens try again in a few months

I would say go for it, You do not want to miss your chance, it may be a few months before he will show the signs again.
Just to be to pushy. Just remember that they will not go to School, or get Married still wearing diapers.
Good luck.

it sounds like he's ready...every little one trains a little different so you can try different things and see what encourages him... it might be different than what worked with your little girls ( and the fact that you have to teach aiming along with it )
good luck :)

ppl will tell you no, he's too young. hogwash. you can do it especially if he keeps taking his diaper off. keep him in the kitchen with you all day and his little potty in there (easier to clean up messes in there) with no diaper and see what happens. i did this with my son and it worked. good luck.
