i don't believe anything will happen "at the end of the world". Unless we destroy ourselves first then i KNOW that the world will be engulfed by the sun as it begins to die, but don't worry, we'll all have been burnt to ash long before as the solar winds strip away our atmosphere and flame grill our beautiful planet.

That is a good question? If you think about it how could there be nothing. There is a possibility that some day life will cease to exist as we know it. But how can nothing exist. According to the Law of Conservation of Energy matter can't be created or destroyed, only converted to a different form. If this is true, that means there will always be something there and nothingness would be impossible. Unless God destroyed everything and made nothingness, but you are an atheist so you don't believe in God. Therefore, nothingness is impossible. Besides that I think if there is an end of the world, it will be when there is no more light because all the stars have faded away and died, and everything would be unimaginally cold and so dark it would make you go blind.

Life and energy never die, it simply changes. We don't know exactly how or as what, that's why most religions all have theories about an afterlife. I think that the world will end long after the ignorance of the human race has reached its peak and we destroy the ecosystem to the point that we can no longer survive in it (ie nuclear war, loss of natural resources, etc). Unless we come to understand that this planet is a small enclosed system that is not unlimited and make the next evolutionary step of understanding.
I believe that this world will end (either by our doing or from the sun's expansion as it enlarges and dies) but the universe will continue its cycles and use our matter and energy in some way.

That is quite a vague question and if you think about it, it is impossible to imagine total nothingness. I believe that at the end of a human life there will be total nothingness for the person or in a way eternal unconsciousness but I cannot speculate on what would happen if the whole universe disappeared.

I don't believe in the end of the world. I think you should focus more on making this world a better place, than thinking about a time that everything will end. You might try to get more in touch with your spirit though meditation, mind-body exercises, and diet, so that you will develop stronger spiritual senses, which will expand your intuition, and spiritual link to the universe. It is easy to not believe in something, than to go out an explore, and find out by doing. The artificial life of academia can be quite sheltering. The struggles of life in the real world, can make one understand the value of God, or at least intuition, to help one make it though life safely..

There is no 'end' to a planet unless it disintegrates into nothing. There may be an end to humans but the world will continue without us. We may destroy everything on the surface of the Earth but it would be almost impossible to wipe out all life on the planet, especially deep sea hydrothermal vents.
Eventually, after millions of years another "intelligent" organism would emerge and could study just how messed up we were. I bet they'd have a good time deciphering all the religious gibberish about how the world was supposed to end too.

If you are atheist, then you will hopefully like my non-religious answer. The truth is, the universe will either
1) keep expanding as it is now, forever, and eventually cool down so much that all life in the universe will die out.
or,
2) The universe will suddenly collapse into itself, sort of like a reverse big bang, and the heat involved in this action will destroy all life in the universe.
Scientists do not know yet which one will occur, but hopefully the answer will be found in the next few years. It's really interesting stuff.

first of i just want to say that i am kind of surprised that a atheist is asking a question and i think it is kind of cool what you do.
the answer can be found in the last book of the bible (the book of revelations[also known as the most difficult book in the bible to understand]). one day and we dont know what day or time it will happen, all believers (as i would like to say all that are save or aka knowing Jesus Christ as their Personal savior) will be ruptured up into heaven. everyone will see it, and every tongue will confess that Jesus is God. then their will be a time of tribulation for seven years if im right(im going off the top of my head here) and it will be so bad that you would wish you were dead. after that seven years any body that dosent believe that he is God will be cast away.
Really hope this helps,
keep doing what your doing cause i think it is cool.

We have a world (universe) without end but this planet earth shall end as it is now...
"...and the earth was without form and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep"...yes, that sounds like nothingness but it won't stay that way as it didn't before...check out the end of our Bible the Good News of God.

The 'End of Time, End of the World, End of Days, Final Judgment, etc.' is psychological metaphor related to a state of consciousness which CAUSES a 'reality shift.' The end of one experience of reality and the beginning of a new world.
