if they are single, there are no other allowances. base Pay only. and no, they will not be getting $650 every two weeks. take 15-28% off the top for taxes, then $100/month for the GI Bill. more for SGLI. Oh yeah, and the first paycheck will be about $250 light to pay for all the non uniform items you bought your first couple of days in basic training.

expect more like under $500 every two weeks.

If you are married, you will get BAH, but that is based on the location of your family, and will vary , so there is no way of telling how much that will be.

Pay is based on two things, rank and time served. The additional pay doesn't always happen.

For an E-2 Private with less than 2 years in that lives in the barracks and doesn't have any additional pay (like jump pay), he would make $1458.90 a month (getting paid twice a month at $729.45. He would not recieve any allowances for housing or food as he lives in the barracks and eats in the chow hall.

If that same person were married and lived off base, he would get an additional $279.88 a month for food and if he has dependents he would get $876.00 for housing if he was stationed at Ft. Bragg. The housing allowance depends on where you live. If the area is high in housing costs, you'd get more.

If the person lives in married housing on base, he'd get the food pay, not the housing.

There are a lot of variables, including a clothing allowance once a year too.

It really all depends if you are talking about being deployed or just for Basic & AIT.

Understanding military pay:

The Leave and Earning Statement (LES) is a comprehensive statement which shows the service member's leave and earnings for the month. The LES is divided into three major areas: Entitlement, Deductions and Allotments.

Are you looking for an CDN military pay or US military pay? OK. I don't know anything about How the US military pay works as I am a canadian military pay clerk. My only suggestion would be to go straight to the nearest recruiting center, I am sure they would be very happy to explain it to you!
