They should get a hero's welcome. Whether people agree with the war or not, or whether they like Bush or not, these men and women didn't choose to go over there. They were sent, and my husband is getting sent next Fall with his National Guard unit. When he comes home, I expect he will want a glass of good scotch, hugs and kisses from his kids and a home-cooked meal. He is full-time AGR in the Guard, so this IS his full-time job, so no doubt he will go right back to doing what he did before the deployment. I expect the government to take just as good care of his post-deployment medical needs (hopefully, he won't have any) as they do of the illegal immigrants in this country. They take better care of those people than we do our own Vets.
I owe my husband EVERYTHING when he comes home, and that's what we will give him.

We owe them our gratitude. The swore to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States and to obey to lawful orders of those points above them. These young men and women have excelled at this. Make sure you personally thank each one of them, offer your hand. Go to an air port, it is easy to spot them and offer them a homemade cookie. Just a simple wave and smile will do wonders for them.
Be anything but not like the ones who welcomed the Vietnam veterans back when they returned. I heard baby killer, curses, and have spit upon back then. I served my country proudly. They are surviving proudly today. The ones I have seen and met make me glad that they are caring on the tradition of past generations, even better then we past generations did.
My salutes to all returning veterans, from an old Air Force Pilot retired.

I think a thank you and a handshake is good enough.. The troops are regular citizens just like everyone else.. Some agree with this war, some don't.. Some want something from you, other don't.. I think the thank you will go well with all of them though..

Just show how much you respect what their doing for our country. Im in the army myself and deployed right now and all I would need is a simple "Thank you," and that makes my day and gives me reassureance on what im fighting for. I get back in two months and I cant wait to see my husband (who just came back from his deployment two weeks ago,) and my 7 year old twin boys. Whenever you see a service member, just go up to them shake their hand and say thank you.

1. Their jobs back if they were National Guard.
2. No prejudice from employers because they may be subject to PTSD,
3. Proper medical care.
4. Any educational or other benefits that they may be entitled to.
I'm a Vietnam vet. I've done okay and don't need anything from anyone, but I know what these new vets will be up against. They will have secrets and will need someone to listen to them. They will need treatment for their PTSD...it is not a matter of whether they will have it, but to what extent.
Bush lied and our soldiers died in a war in Iraq that never needed to be fought.
May God bless our brave soldiers. May God damn the chickensh*ts...I mean chickenhawks...in this administration that put them in harm's way unnecessarily.

The democracy they fought for, not an ultraconservative fascist state. Also a fully funded VA, not an insurance racket to steal their money and tell them they have pre-existing conditions. Also a socialistic GI Bill of Rights, not some privatized ripoff.

we owe them our life for doing what they have done for our country. if it wasn't for them we wouldn't have the things that we take for granted every single day like our freedom.
we should celebrate our troops by thanking them for their services and rewarding them with gifts of appreciation. i know that we do that on veterens day but we shoud do it everyday.

first is respect, more than anything that is what they deserve.....
and lots and lots and lots of consideration.....show them lots of love and gratitude.....they are over there sacrificing their lives, putting themselves at risk so we can live our lives.....i think that everyone should stop and thank our soldiers when we see one, even if you dont know them...just say thank you....even little kindness like that will put a smile on their face, i know it puts a smile on my husbands face when random strangers approach him, and it makes me so proud of him i get teary eyed
