So lets assume for a minute that Christianity is false. Now if you were going to create a religion would you put in the idea of sin and hell? Rules that keep you from doing pleasurable things? Or would you make it one that lets you do what ever you want? Encourages as much sex as possible any way you want because it feels good. Drink all you want. Lie, cheat, and steal if it gets you ahead. Wouldn't it make a lot more sense if you were going to create a religion out of whole cloth to make it one that does not restrict you? That does not condemn you if you sin? Why would man make up a religion like Christianity that tells you that you must love, even your enemy. That you must be moral and not lie or do wrong. So my question is if it is made up don't you think they person who made it up messed up? Why only tell a person to pay 10% when you could have demanded 90% and only left them 10%? It does not make sense that a religion like Christianity would be made up.

Atheists need salvation also !! - Glad to have you join us brother. I love seeing former atheists become Christians on here. Gives me hope for the rest of them.

MJ - yeah I am just saying if man had made up a religion it would be more like the one I am describing. Since when has man ever truly shown restraint.

†lifeonloan† - I don't feel in the least restricted by Christianity either. I was just trying to type this from the non-believer view. Personally far from restricting me being a Christian has freed me.

Wow, for a second I thought you were saying that would all be a good idea. Nice way of going at that one. God knows what is best for us, we obviously do not! Teen pregnancy, divorce, HIV, drug abuse, child neglect, school shootings, do I need to go on? Our selfishness and want to do what we please is destroying us and the rest of society. I fear for my son's future.

Someone didn't just decide one day out of the blue to "make up" Christianity. In Jerusalem at the time of Jesus Christs existence, there were many who were labeled rebels or troublemakers who were exactly like Jesus. These people taught a revolutionary new idea which many people didn't take to. For whatever reason, Jesus' teachings finally hit the mark and he got a following. I doubt he ever meant to have people think he was their savior, he just had a message of peace, much like Buddha. Of course by now the ball was rolling and I'm sure the Romans didn't like the commotion he was causing so he was killed off. But as history has shown, when a leader of a significant movement is killed/martyred, that solidifies them as golden, and people saw this as an opportunity to break free from the Roman's and called it a new religion. As time passed on, only select teachings of Jesus were written down and called Gospel. Probably what we know of what he taught is completely distorted and not where he meant things to go.

Christianity does not restrict me, it frees and encourages me. If I were restricted, I could not grow and become more than I already am. Life would become a rut to be endured. As it is, believing in Jesus and His salvation, I am encouraged to constantly be improving, maturing and learning. God no longer condemns a Christian for sinning, He has forgiven them, now He points out the "less noticeable" sins, of impure thought or deed. I am free to enjoy so many little things, I know to stop and smell the roses before they fade---and they will.......

Every day spent living in this world proves to me more and more that God is who He says He is. :) Just look around at the beauty, the perfection.

Every day on the way to and from work, I take back street, neighborhood kind of ways, instead of the main street. On these streets, I get to enjoy God's creation and perfection all around me, through the ducks in the pond, the hawk poised up high on a streetlight, dragonflies doing their funny dance just over the water. When I hit it just right, I get to smell the fresh cut grass, and hear the birds.

Imagine the big bang creating all this...creating grass that grows, and we have to cut, but giving us that sweet smell of the fresh grass while we do it. Come to the west coast of FL here and watch just one sunset, and tell me there is no God.

Some of the things we, as Christians, are called to turn away from may be pleasurable for a moment, but wow, look at what we have ahead.....

God bless

There is a religion that advocates a lack of restiction - Satanism, and Satanism is not actually very popular.

According to you, of course, I am a Satanist. Yet I am restricted from lying, cheating and stealing not by my religious beliefs, but by my own morals that have been developed by experience, reasoning and the love of my family. I also try to be civil to people who have shown me enemity - including yourself.

Most other religions do advocate asceticism (sorry if I spelt that wrong). They also advocate some kind of moral code, as they do not wish to be seen as evil. A religion that demanded 90% wouldn't get many adherents. Ditto a religion that advocated lying, cheating and stealing if it got you ahead. Now, you do think all of those religions are made up, don't you? Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism? Except for Christianity, of course. Based on the reasoning in your question, all of them should be true.

Christianity is for all adult men. From those of the day in simple terms before this to at present and for the destiny generations. The message is as suitable at present because it became whilst first written. i think of guy has in simple terms corrupted it to in good shape his skills to stay interior of it rather is framework. If a guy sees a rule he can't swallow, he in simple terms renders it misquoted or misinterpreted and is going on merrily ignoring it.

The Bible shows it was a made up religion. You take Judaism, have a rabbi named Jesus introduce Greek philosophy into it, then have Paul drop the unpopular restrictions (which you made such a big deal about), so he could sell it in Rome.
