didn't help much. I have seen alot of people voting for themselves as best answer, does this break any rules. I've never done it, but how does Yahoo monitor people that do that? Is that cheating? I know level 7 people that to that, how can they be reported if this is cheating. I don't think it is fair. If it is okay to vote yourself as best answer can you be reported for it. How do you report someone for doing this if it violates Y'ans guidlines. The TOS really doesn't explain it. So can you vote for yourself or not? If not I need to report alot of people.

If you only have one vote and you read all of the answers and think that your answer was the best of the bunch then you can vote for your answer as "best answer". If someone is just going through their answers to find ones that are in the voting process and giving their answers a boost to make points then that's not very ethical.

As to how you can report someone for it, how would you know that they were doing it unless you had some way to monitor their computer activity or they told you they were doing it?

You can vote for yourself. That's not a violation of the TOS. But if you have multiple accounts and go and vote with each account - that's point gaming and against the TOS. People do it, I don't know why. Does it really give you any satisfaction to know you got a Best Answer because you had 10 accounts and felt compelled to cheat?

Peace to you.

It does not violate any rules. If you run for office you can still vote for yourself, I would hope any candidate would vote for themselves. How could you expect someone else to vote for you if you voted for someone else? If you think you have the best answer why shouldn't you vote for yourself. I don't see anything unfair about it.

How would you go about reporting people? Do you know for an absolute fact that the vote was theirs. It seems to me you would be guessing, you can't tell who voted.

I don't do that, partly because I'll get more enjoyment on this site from a healthy community through encouraging others than from silly point gaming.

But why would it be a problem? They only get one vote, unless they want to waste a lot of time on a couple of dozen sock puppet accounts when they could be posting more.

Yes, I wonder sometimes, because if we notice something and have no way of saying in the report why we are reporting...then they may not see it and it then looks bad on us.
