Yes, but I wouldn't recommend it. They need to want deliverance, or they are not going to stay delivered.

Mat 12:43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.
44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth [it] empty, swept, and garnished.
45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last [state] of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

Yes, but it works better if the person knows about it and wants it. I have seen many people delivered after they have heard the gospel or some truths about the Kingdom of God in a loving and compassionate way. If there are many different spirits that are entrenched, which unfortunately is frequent. It may take more time because it is more complex. Each spirit protects the other and sets up barriers to prevent you. I find that the person needs to grow to trust in us, This will take some time as they come to become our friend.

It is very important not to deliver someone before their time. I delivered a young man once, but he went right back into his normal life style without any environment changes and the demons came back and there was more of them and they were even stronger. Jesus warned us about this, that is why He tells us that we should pray and fast. What He meant, is that we should seek Godly wisdom and take time to approach these difficult situations. Each problem needs to be approached differently because each oppression is different. Sometimes it is foolish to rush in because what will happen to them. They may end up worse or not trusting in us. If they have no place to go after the deliverance. They may need financial assistance, follow up, continued instructions.

I pray that the Lord will give you knowledge and wisdom so that you can be a help to this person.

Jesus did, so it's certainly possible according to the Scriptures.

Matthew 15:22 And behold, a Canaanite woman from that region came out and was crying, "Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is severely oppressed by a demon."

23 But he did not answer her a word. And his disciples came and begged him, saying, "Send her away, for she is crying out after us."

24 He answered, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel."

25 But she came and knelt before him, saying, "Lord, help me."

26 And he answered, "It is not right to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs."

27 She said, "Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters' table."

28 Then Jesus answered her, "O woman, great is your faith! Be it done for you as you desire." And her daughter was healed instantly.

It seems like a person could pray for the Lord to cast out a demon and if He were willing it would go out and the person wouldn't even be aware of what was going on.

As to a "demon oppressed" person, usually a person suffers from oppression because of some sin in their life. The Lord allows the oppression to drive a person from their sin to Him. If a person is living a holy life with no unconfessed, un-repented of sin in their life a demon doesn't have a way to get at them directly but has to work through other people or means.

What is exactly their symptoms. Could they maybe be physically sick or mentally sick?
Could they angry or screaming out for help? Could they be etc. etc. etc. etc.
What YOU consider to be a "demon" must be something else, because I bet, except for yourself and probably people in your religious congregation you are the ones that are putting judgment on this person, are being non-compassionate, are being fearful because he/she is acting in a way YOU do not understand.
If your question had asked "Could one send out love and compassion to a person who is not acting in the way I think they should?" my answer would have been. Yes, you can always send out love from yourself, compassion from yourself, forgiveness if that person has really done something unforgivable (although Jesus showed that there is nothing that can not be forgiven). By not judging them and finding out if you could help this person in any way, then you would not only be doing what Jesus said you should do, but you would be delivering yourself from fear and oppression.

Actually you can fast and pray for them to be delivered. And that the oppression be lifted so they can be saved. This is one thing that we should do for the unsaved because unless it is removed they will not be able to understand the concept of the gospel

Well if you believe in that kind of stuff I guess you would have to confront the demon in person.

did you really mean OPPRESED?
i thought most bible-types only believed in possesions by demons.
Heck if they can sit on the outside and just act to OPpress, why would they risk their lives by possessing anyone?

Demons do not exist. Also, that person knows what's better for themselves than you do.
