You can start now. Figure out the basics like what kind of flowers, what colors, where will you have it.....etc. the more time you give yourself the less stressful it will be.

Just be careful that you are choosing things because you LIKE them not because they are trendy.

Locations will be happy to give you quotes but usually won't let you get a firm contract until about a year in advance.

As a wedding pro, I say it's never to early to start planning.
I actually have a couple booked for 2009 myself.
It's taking alot of stress off of them and me.
Last minute planning your in a rush, you may not get the reception hall you wanted cause it's already booked, etc. All of that adds to the stress.
Lot's of lttle details go into planing a wedding, and by starting early, you can work on them oe at a time, instead of 100 at a time.

I wouldn't start on the major things until a year or two before. Two years before your wedding start calling around ( I'd say right after New Years.) and get your reception booked and paid for. Be sure to ask what happens to your money should you need to cancel, and get it in writing.Start saving now so you have money when the time comes.

Hi and congratulations!

That is a long time away. Start planning about a year in advance. If you live in a city, you may want to book the important things like church, reception venue, photographer and DJ possibly 18 months to 2 years in advance. Everything else can wait until 12 months prior.

You can start now if you want.

Browse around for sites, dresses, etc.

Wait until 2009 to do any serious reservation making though.

Start saving up NOW for an awesome wedding day and HONEYMOON!

Set aside money each paycheck and use your income tax refund.

wow and I thought my 2 year engagement was a long one. It all depends on where you live. I live near NYC and most vendors book 18 months in advance. But "normal" planning time is about a year in advance.

Usually a year before is enough. If you are planning to have it or the reception at a popular place though, you might want to check into it 2 years before.
