It is very possible that he is. If god is all powerful and does not vanquish the devil is it because he can not? If he can not then god is not all powerful. If god can but does not want to then god is not all-loving.
So yes maybe god is afraid of the devil

In my religion's tradition (one of many), God and the Devil are actually brothers. "God" was older and so got the Earth, but the "Devil" was married to an older female, and since the line went through the women, the "Devil" got pissed and fought with "God" over it. Eventually, this got the "Devil" banished to Earth along with all of the people who supported him... this might have happened because the "Devil" betrayed "God" and warned humans of the flood "God" was sending to the area. (Upon which the story of Noah is based, only infinitely less exaggerated. At this time, there weren't many people in the area, so fitting a few people and a few goats on a boat to avoid a local flood isn't hard to believe.)
God's name was Enlil (the Sky God). The Devil's name was Enki (the Serpent God, or God of the Abyss/Ocean). The tradition is Sumerian in origin, the society upon which the Bible is based. (Aka, the society the Bible stole from. -.- )
And of course the Christians are going to say "Omg Satan is teh evil and is powerless!"... it's basically what the Egyptians did to Set once Horus became the favored deity. Because Jehova/Enlil railroaded Satan/Enki, he became the principal deity and his opposition...Satan/Enki... became the bad guy, even though Satan/Enki was, originally, the good guy.
The gods of the old religion become the devils of the new. It's quite simple, really.
Either way. God's not afraid of Satan, Satan isn't afraid of God, they just hate each other's guts. It's not that difficult to understand. And of course God isn't anywhere to be seen... it's kind of hard to see people who aren't in the same room as you, let alone the same planet or whatnot.
Question everything. Assume nothing. Good luck to you, and don't listen to the haters. :)

Jehovah God is a spirit creature, therefore we cannot see him. Satan the Devil is a spirit creature, therefore we cannot see him. Jehovah God is no where near close to being afraid of Satan. Jehovah is more powerful and much stronger and Satan could never overpower Jehovah, ever. Revelation 12:12 states- On this account be glad, YOU heavens and YOU who reside in them! Woe for the earth and for the sea, because the Devil has come down to YOU, having great anger, knowing he has a short period of time.” Satan has a short period of time to torture ones on the Earth and try to blind their eyes. Satan will be destroyed, therefore, Jehovah God has never been, nor ever will be afraid of Satan.

The devil bows to the name of Jesus. He cannot look at Gods face because He would be destroyed. God is not afraid of the devil and the devil knows it.
Is the devil nowhere to be seen? God's in everything and in everyone.

God is NOT afraid of the devil. The devil will forever have to bow his knee to God. Satan was created by God. He fell away from God by his own free agency.

I read somewhere that Lucifer was actually one of God's angels. Lucifer formed a rebellion against God in an attempt to overthrow him. God's Archangel Michael battled Lucifer and caste him into hell.
In knowing this why would God be afraid?

DEVIL was created to scare the weak back to GOD. So, GOD couldn't be scared of DEVIL, it is the lesser devouts that will be scared. However, DEVIL has miserably failed in scaring atheists.
Perhaps there is a reason why DEVIL spells the reverse of LIVED ;)

Neither is the devil.
Satan is no match for God. He even admitted that himself.
Read the book of Job.
