My son has seen two doctors and I am still worried. First doctor said it was his eczema flaring up then his second doctor said it was a case of varicella. I first noticed my son acting fussy 3 weeks ago but I thought he was teething, had mild case of diarrhea, and felt a little warm. Then he got what I thought was a cold only to be followed up with this rash that is all over except the face and head which is why i don't think it is chicken pox. Has anyone out there had a case like this and if so when should I see improvement in his discomfort?

Chicken pox produces what is called a vesicular rash. You can sometimes see vesicles with eczema and allergic reactions. Chicken pox doesn't last for three weeks without all the lesions being mostly crusted over and gone. Does the rash itch? Could it be a severe case of scabies?

Rashes are difficult to diagnose without a hands-on look. Perhaps if two doctors give confusing opinions, a trip to a dermatologist would be in order.

Sounds like the pox to me. Cold like symptoms flare up when they are about to break out with the pox. This doesn't happen with eczema or psoriasis
