either all life is sacred or none is. Not even Christ could find the middle ground in this.

K, Enzyme, I am pro-life. I am all for it, it sure the heck beats the alternative.
ALL life is sacred; look at how Christ exonerated the thief crucified next to him just because he believed. No, I am NOT in favor of, nor will I ever be, in favor of capitol punishment. Abortion is the abrupt cessation of life before it has reached its natural end. A death sentence is an abortion. I am against it Simply because I could not push a button, push a syringe, pull a lever, pull a trigger or hang a man. There HAS to be something better.

The Catholic Church teaches that the death penalty is not intrinsically evil. Not all Catholics understand or agree with it, but that is the position of the Church.

I;m not sure how you can say that all life is sacred or none at all. If I kill in self-defense, or in a time of just war, it is not murder.

Yes, I am pro-life and pro-death penalty (DP on a limited basis - I didn't agree with the Chinese guy getting executed due to food problems!).

BTW - when Jesus was threatened with the death penalty , he didn't say that it was immoral. He acknowledged the possibility of the state executing him.

That's why I'm in favor of capital punishment. I consider the life of the innocent sacred. To murder is a crime worthy of death.

But of course those who don't value life don't make much of murder. And the unrighteous make no distinction between justice and murder - good and evil are the same in their eyes.

Yes.

And the best way to show respect to the live of a nine year old girl who was raped and then buried alive is to take the life away from the man who did it to her.

To not execute such a cold blooded murderer is to disrespect that nine year old girl's life.

In the same manner, to respect the lives of the more than 100 people killed in the Oklahoma City bombing was to take the life away from the man who did that.

To not take his life away would be to disrespect the more than 100 people killed in Oklahoma City.

If it was up to me, I'd change the laws so capital punishment is dispensed in the same way that the murderer killed his victim.

The Bible says that God has ordained government to punish those who do evil. What it talks about the sword, its talking about capital punishment.

Romans 13:4
For he is God's servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer.

Yes I am pro life and in favor of capitol punishment. Life is sacred but God allows government to rule people and when one has killed and government has convicted and sentenced to death that person for their crimes that is human justice. God is a God of justice and He set up laws that allowed for death of a person for their crime.

I am not 'pro-life' at least in the sense of being anti-abortion, and I am against the death penalty, but I think I can answer that question!

The justification is that death is 'just deserts' for the most guilty of our society, but totally unfair for 'babies' who are the most innocent.

I don't agree with that, but it's a good justification.

To me, this would be sort of a double standard or an odd view of how things work. I know this is a hot topic. I think only God has the right to put an end to anyone's life, period.

This is true, all life is sacred to God, but people view an innocent baby differently than a three time convicted murderer. I'm pro-choice, but ONLY in the very early stages of pregnancy. You don't let the baby develop and then say you changed your mind. I'm also for the death penalty because it saves tax payer dollars, and some criminals are incapable of rehabilitation.

If all life were sacred in god's eyes there wouldn't be passages in the bible saying not to suffer a witch to live or to take people to the gates of the city and stone them to death.

Just my 2 cents.
