I read in the paper today that Age Concern (charity in UK that supports older adults) did a survey that found that 300,000 elderly people didn't speak to a relative, friend or neighbour in a month. Loneliness and isolation is a terrifying thought.

The thought of becoming old doesn't frighten me at all in it self, but the thought of becoming either so sick that I need someone else to do everything for me, like feed, bathe and change my diapers, or getting alzheimers and forgetting who my family and friends are, that scares me very much.
Also I live in Norway, and Norway doesn't practice euthanasia. And I am for the possibility of euthanasia as a last way out of misary.

I have gone through the ill health thing , for the past 11 years I have been stuck indoors due to arthritis, and after my operations next Monday I will have my life back, so I think the worst thing would be for me to get ill and housebound again.
