You have a few choices. One of them is to assume some kind of a God was somehow responsible but does not interfere with the way things work. This lets you do science.
You can be like the bible literalists and think God runs around committing miracles at random. This puts you in opposition to science
Or that God is an unnecessary hypothesis, in other words does not matter at all to science. This also lets you do science.
Atheism decides God does not exist and lets you do science too.
If you believe God exists like the first way, that is deism. Einstein was a deist, so was Steven Hawking.
The second way like the Fundies do puts you into a highly self conflicting position and requires a massive amount of denial to keep in place. The amount of evidence you have to stay ignorant about is astounding.
The third way separates religion from science. You can do your science all week, then go on with your religious life at home and on Sunday. It only gives the problem of creating a dual you. Kind of like Spiderman/Peter Parker.
The atheist, and the deist are the least conflicted, but the atheist has to deal with the prejudice against nonbelievers in society. I think most atheists who are prominent decide to present themselves as deists so they are not wasting all their life explaining their lack of belief in Gods.
THERE IS one more route. That is serious agnosticism. The position is that the question of God's existance can never ever be answered.
It is an ultimately unanswerable question and therefore it is moot. The only thing to do is forget about that question and answer the ones that really matter.
Like if it is ever appropriate to wear plaid socks.
Now out of these choices you get to choose.
The beauty part is this. It does not matter much what you choose. You can change your mind about what you think whenever you like. You can even decide to believe conflicting things at the same time if you want to.
I would say choose what is comfortable to you most of the time.
That is the prize to be won from free thought. Flexibility instead of a rigid belief system.

we seem to have this need to make the consciousness that created everything into a "who"... a defineable human-like spirit responsible for everything
but maybe, from our limited perspective here, the truth is so huge, it simply cannot be contained or described in a book or even in a belief system
i believe that we all have the answers to all questions and the secrets of the Universe within- your connection to the Divine
keep searching, and you may find signposts pointing the way, but beware of those who claim to know the one and only way

You are starting with the assumption that SOMEBODY HAD TO MAKE EVERYTHING. That is an unproven assumption and it is also something of an infinite logic loop. If somebody had to create the universe then it is only reasonable to assume that somebody had to create that sombody who had to create that somebody. The question is never answered or answerable.
An alternative is: We don't yet know but it is possible that the universe or multiverse has existed in some form or another forever and it had no beginning.

God spoke everything into existance, there was no big bang, God said let their be light and there was light. Look around you, can you explain the sun coming up every morning, no way, Somebody put all this in order, It took a Supernatural being far superior to us to make all this work. The Holy Bible tells how, when you read it, it speaks to your heart, open it up and read the Gospel of John first then Genesis. Read it with the believe that if God is real I will feel it and see it. Pray and ask God if he is real to show himself to you, of course you have to be sincere because God knows our hearts and our intentions. He will show you the truth, what you do with it is up to you. You can follow him or the devil, the choice is yours, the Bible says there is only two ways, the broad gate and the narrow gate, the narrow gate will take you to Heaven, the broad one takes you to hell. Think about, You only get one life, Make the best of it, here is a sinners prayer, if you believe in Jesus you can pray this prayer and become a born again Christian, just say Dear Jesus, I know and confess that I am sinner in need of salvation. I believe you died on a cross at calvery and arose from the grave to wash away my sins, I ask you right now to come into my heart and save me, I pray this Prayer believing in the name of Jesus Amen. If you prayed this prayer with a sincere heart you are now a child of God, rejoice that your name is written in the Lambs book of Life. Jesus will now send his Holy Spirit to come and live in your heart and guide you into all truth. If you have any questions just send me an email, God Bless YOU!!

There is an original cause and beginning for everything, and from which everything begin, that cause of origin, has not beginning, because if you go back, every time you go back, you will find another cause of origin where the latter began. And that origin must be conscious, alive, can not be inert matter, that is not possible, therefore must be a Supreme cause, the cause of all causes, the one who has not other origin.

We pretty much picture God as this guy with a big grey beard and a white robe with a big thunderbolt in his hand, right? I see God as energy. Energy is what we are all made up of, the life of all that is living. The only thing that God could be is A massive source of energy with the knowledge to create it and destroy it. With that being said, God did create everything (and God just 'is') and that includes evolution, science, etc... Look at how far science has advanced in the past 400 years... imagine what another will bring...

That is the 50 cent question isn't it. Where did everything come from. If from god, where did god come from? If not from god, where did it come from?
It is much easier to hypothesize a creator than to get our heads around the theoretical issues of an apparent existence that we don't understand.
But who needs a creator? Why does there have to be something that accounts for all the stuff we think we see?

God spoke and nothing
became everything.
I am Alpha and Omega.
The beginning and the end.
The Word struck a tent of human
flesh and dwelt among us.
Christ is the Word. He might be
a Good place to get those answers.
